The Vaillant vSMART is an internet-connected room thermostat that gives full smartphone control over heating and hot water for the entire Vaillant ecoTEC combi boiler range. Communicating with the boiler over eBUS and with the outside world over the home Wi-Fi network, vSMART delivers weather compensation, self-learning of the building's heating characteristics, and app-based scheduling — taking a compatible system to ErP Class VI, a 4% efficiency improvement over a standard on/off room thermostat.

Compatibility
The vSMART Combi Pack is designed for the full range of Vaillant ecoTEC combi boilers communicating via eBUS. A working home Wi-Fi connection is required at the installation address for weather compensation, remote app access, and self-learning functions to operate — the thermostat can still provide basic on/off room temperature control without Wi-Fi.
How It Works
Once connected to the home Wi-Fi network, vSMART pulls local weather data and continuously adjusts the boiler's flow temperature to match outdoor conditions, rather than simply switching the boiler on and off around a fixed room setpoint. From the moment it's installed, it begins learning the thermal behaviour of the property — how quickly it heats up and cools down — to fine-tune when the boiler needs to fire to hit the desired temperature at the desired time.
Why vSMART
Weather Compensation
Uses internet weather data to modulate the boiler's flow temperature in response to outdoor conditions, reducing unnecessary energy use on milder days while maintaining comfort in cold snaps.
Self-Learning Technology
vSMART begins learning the thermal behaviour of the building from the moment it's installed, adjusting start times so the property reaches the desired temperature exactly when needed.
ErP Class VI Control
As a Class 6 control under the ErP directive, vSMART contributes a 4% system efficiency increase compared with a basic on/off room thermostat.
Full App Control
The Vaillant vSMART app for iOS and Android gives remote access to heating and hot water settings from anywhere with a data connection, alongside energy consumption monitoring.
Low-Energy E-Paper Display
The thermostat itself uses electronic paper technology for a crisp, high-contrast display that consumes very little power.
Multiple Controllers, One App
Multiple vSMART controllers can be connected to a single app account, useful for managing more than one property or zone from the same account.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will vSMART work with any boiler?
This Combi Pack is designed for the Vaillant ecoTEC combi boiler range communicating via eBUS. A separate vSMART System/Open Vent Pack (20223158) is available for system and open vent boilers.
Do I need an internet connection for vSMART to work?
A home Wi-Fi connection is required for weather compensation, remote app access, self-learning, and energy consumption monitoring. Without Wi-Fi, the thermostat still provides basic room temperature control, but the smart features are unavailable.
How much more efficient does vSMART make my heating system?
As an ErP Class VI control, vSMART contributes a 4% increase in overall system efficiency compared with a standard on/off room thermostat, in addition to the savings from weather compensation and self-learning.
Can I control more than one property with the app?
Yes — the vSMART app supports connecting multiple vSMART controllers to a single account, useful for managing heating across more than one property or zone.
Can I install this myself?
The vSMART receiver connects to the boiler's eBUS terminals, so installation should be carried out or checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer as part of a boiler installation or service visit.
What does the data fiche included in the box tell me?
The data fiche documents the control's ErP class and efficiency contribution figures, required for energy labelling purposes when the control is combined with a specific boiler model.
