The Vaillant 22 mm Boiler Protection Kit (0020278309) is a brass magnetic system filter designed by Vaillant for domestic central heating systems, supplied complete with a system water test kit so the filter and the water quality check are covered in one box. It is sized for boilers with a 14 to 27 kW heating output and is fitted to the heating return using the 22 mm compression connections supplied.
Using magnetic field booster technology, the filter captures magnetite and other sludge before it can reach the heat exchanger, pump and controls. It removes both magnetic and non-magnetic particles from 5 µm (0.005 mm) upwards, needs no shut-off valves or bypass, and holds a constant low pressure drop so system flow is not compromised. The removable high-powered magnet and integral drain valve make the annual clean a quick job rather than a messy one.
The housing is sturdy brass and the filter itself carries a guarantee of up to 20 years (based on the estimated service life of the system, from the date of installation). When installed with an eligible ecoTEC plus or ecoTEC exclusive boiler and registered through Vaillant Advance, it also unlocks the 10 year extended boiler guarantee.

Do not install outdoors or where temperatures fall to 0°C unless frost protection is in place. Fit to the heating return with the flow arrow matching the return flow direction, and tighten fittings to less than 40 Nm.

It must be registered by an Advance Loyalty Club installer within 30 days, and requires the system to be flushed, cleansed and inhibited to BS 7593 with annual servicing. The 20 year filter guarantee applies separately to the filter itself.
