The Tigo Access Point (TAP) is the wireless communication hub of a Tigo TS4 system. It talks to your optimisers over a self-extending wireless mesh, passes module-level monitoring data back to the Tigo Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA) gateway over a simple RS485 cable, and provides the grid-status signal that keeps module-level rapid shutdown working.
Each TAP serves up to 300 TS4 units, and a single CCA can manage up to seven TAPs. Order this unit as an additional access point for arrays with long runs, several roof planes or obstructions that stop one TAP reaching every optimiser. It is IP68 rated, clips to the module frame without tools and is commissioned with the Tigo EI app on a phone or tablet. Designed for use with TS4-X-O, TS4-X-S, TS4-A-O and TS4-A-S devices.

powered via RS485 from the CCA
Part of a system, not a standalone device
A TAP works with a Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA) gateway that has an internet connection, plus compatible TS4-X-O, TS4-X-S, TS4-A-O or TS4-A-S devices. The TAP takes its power from the CCA through the communication cable. TS4-X-F rapid-shutdown-only units use an RSS Transmitter instead of a TAP.
Mesh layout rules
- Keep the TAP within 10 m (33 ft) of the closest TS4.
- Each TS4 relays to the next TS4 within 10 m, so gaps between strings wider than 10 m need another TAP.
- The farthest TS4 in a TAP's network must be within 35 m (115 ft).
- Place the TAP in the centre of the array for the best coverage.
- Obstructions such as HVAC units, gables, parapets, drop-roofs and dormers, or several roof planes, may call for additional TAPs.
Safety and compliance
Installation must be carried out by trained professionals only. Verify wiring polarity and complete all communication connections before powering on the CCA. For rapid shutdown, the CCA must be on the same AC branch circuit as the inverter. The rapid shutdown requirements quoted in the manufacturer documentation are based on US standards (NEC and UL), so confirm what your UK project requires under BS 7671 and your scheme rules.
Key features
Wireless mesh
Every TS4 acts as a signal repeater for its neighbours, extending reach across the array with no extra wiring.
Up to 300 TS4 units
High-definition sampling and a scalable architecture let one TAP collect data from up to 300 units.
Tool-free mounting
Clips onto the module frame without tools. For frameless modules, mount to the rail with two M8 bolts.
Simple RS485 daisy chain
Connect TAPs in series to the CCA with a ferruled 4-wire RS485 cable, leaving the terminating resistor in the last TAP.
Fast commissioning
Use the Tigo EI app to commission on site. Discovery scans for TAPs and TS4 units and builds the system map.
Built for outdoors
IP68 rated and compact at 126.2 × 130.0 × 26.8 mm, so it can live on the roof beside the modules.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Tigo TAP do?
The TAP communicates wirelessly with your TS4 units, gathers their monitoring data and connects to the CCA by RS485. It also provides the grid-status signal TS4 devices use for module-level rapid shutdown. The CCA then sends the data to the Tigo cloud platform over Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
How many TAPs do I need?
One TAP handles up to 300 TS4 units when placement guidelines are followed, and a CCA supports up to 7 TAPs and 900 TS4 units. Add another TAP where any TS4 is more than 35 m from the TAP, where gaps between strings exceed 10 m, or where obstructions or separate roof planes block the signal.
Can I use a TAP without a CCA?
No. The TAP connects to the Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA) via RS485 and draws its power from it. The CCA needs an internet connection for monitoring and for the warranty conditions on the optimisers, and it must be on the same AC branch circuit as the inverter for rapid shutdown.
Which Tigo optimisers work with this TAP?
The manufacturer lists TS4-X-O, TS4-X-S, TS4-A-O and TS4-A-S. TS4-X-F units provide rapid shutdown only and use an RSS Transmitter rather than a TAP.
How do I mount and wire the TAP?
Clip it to the module frame without tools, or for frameless modules remove the clips and secure it to the rail with two M8 bolts at 10.2 Nm. Run the 4-wire RS485 cable from the CCA GATEWAY terminal to the first TAP and connect it to the left terminal block. To add more TAPs, chain them in series from the right-hand terminals after removing the pre-installed 120 Ω resistor, and leave the resistor fitted in the last TAP.
