The Tigo TS4-X-O is a retrofit module-level power electronics (MLPE) optimiser that adds panel-level optimisation, monitoring and rapid shutdown to a solar array. It is rated for 800 W and 25 A Isc, so it copes with today's high-power, high-current modules, and it reaches 99.6% maximum efficiency while reducing the effect of shading and mismatch.
It clips straight onto the module frame (or mounts to the racking) and connects with MC4 connectors, so it suits both new installs and retrofits. Because it works with any panel and thousands of inverter models from more than 50 brands, you can fit as few as one optimiser, which is ideal when only a few panels are shaded or face another direction. Only the affected panels need optimising and they can be mixed in a string with non-optimised panels.
Module-level monitoring and rapid shutdown run through a Tigo Access Point (TAP) and Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA), with optional multi-factor rapid shutdown when combined with an RSS Transmitter. The unit is IP68 rated, operates from -40 to 85 °C and carries a 25-year warranty on monitored systems.

TAP and CCA are required
Module-level monitoring and rapid shutdown need a Tigo Access Point (TAP) and a Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA) gateway. These are separate products and are not part of the optimiser.
Compatibility and variants
Suitable for standard string and hybrid inverters, but not for SolarEdge or Huawei systems, which use their own optimisers. When fitting only some panels, follow Tigo's partial deployment and mixed module type rules. Input leads are 0.6 m or 1.2 m and output leads 1.2 m or 2 m depending on variant, so check the cable length on your order.
Warranty condition
The 25-year warranty only applies if all system components are connected to the internet and stay connected for the whole warranty period. The warranty on an unmonitored Tigo optimiser is 5 years.
Installation sequence and safety
- Connect the shorter TS4-X input leads to the PV modules first, then join the longer output cables to neighbouring units. The wrong order can cause irreparable damage that is not covered by warranty.
- Never connect or disconnect under load. Wait 30 seconds after rapid shutdown activation before disconnecting DC cables.
- Always assume a TS4 is ON and capable of passing full module voltage unless verified otherwise. Installation by trained professionals only.
- Rapid shutdown certification in the datasheet is to US standards (UL 1741 PVRSE/PVRSS). Confirm what your UK project requires under BS 7671 and scheme rules.
Fitting quick facts
- Mount on the top of the module frame with the silver clips, cable glands facing down or sideways, and never with the glands facing up.
- Leave 12.7 mm (0.5 in) between the unit and the module glass, with the label facing away from the glass.
- Frameless modules: bolt directly to the rail with M8 bolts at 10.2 Nm. No extra grounding is needed.
- Peel off the QR/barcode sticker and place it on a site layout map before fitting, so commissioning in the Tigo EI app matches the physical layout.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a TAP and CCA with the TS4-X-O?
Yes. The TS4-X-O needs a Tigo Access Point (TAP) and Cloud Connect Advanced (CCA) for module-level monitoring and rapid shutdown. One CCA manages up to 900 TS4 units and 7 TAPs, and the CCA also needs an internet connection for the 25-year warranty to apply.
Can I fit it to just the shaded panels?
Yes. You can use as few as one optimiser. Only shaded panels, or panels on a different roof orientation, need optimising, and they can be mixed in a string with non-optimised panels. Follow Tigo's partial deployment and mix-and-match module rules when designing the string.
Which inverters is it compatible with?
It works with thousands of inverter models from more than 50 brands and with almost any panel. It is not intended for SolarEdge or Huawei systems, which use their own optimisers.
What is the warranty?
25 years, provided all system components are connected to the internet and remain connected throughout the warranty period. An unmonitored optimiser carries a 5-year warranty.
How is it installed?
Attach it to the top of the module frame with the clips, glands facing down or sideways, then connect the shorter input leads to the module and the longer output leads to the neighbouring unit to form the string. Disconnect output cables from each other before unplugging the input leads, and wait 30 seconds after rapid shutdown before touching DC cables.
What is multi-factor rapid shutdown?
When the TS4-X-O is combined with an optional RSS Transmitter, two independent shutdown signals protect the array: a wired power-line communication heartbeat and a wireless heartbeat from the CCA via the TAP. If the heartbeat is lost, the units drop module voltage to a safe level.
