The Tesla TCP200 Thermal Control Plate gives full control over an electric towel rail element by wiring the element directly into the plate, rather than running it on a fixed, non-adjustable thermostat. Rated IPX5, it is designed to be safely wired within the bathroom and fits a standard electrical back box.
The TCP200 works with elements from 150W up to 800W, up to a maximum of 1000W, and can be used on both electric-only towel rails and dual fuel installations connected to a central heating system. Output is adjusted in five 20% increments via simple touch controls, with a built-in 2-hour boost function for quick extra heat.
150-800W
Compatible Elements
Please Note: The TCP200 does not require an earth connection itself — the earth wire from the towel rail element must instead be connected to the earth post in the back box or the ring main directly, not to the control plate.
Full Adjustable Output Control
Unlike a standard towel rail element's fixed internal thermostat, the TCP200 allows the output to be increased or decreased in five 20% stages, shown on an active LED display, giving genuine control over heat output.
2-Hour Boost Function
Pressing the boost button switches the element to full power for 2 hours before automatically reverting to the previous setting — useful for quickly warming towels or drying a heavily used bathroom.
Works with Elements from 150W to 800W
Compatible with towel rail elements ranging from 150W up to 800W, and will control most current towel rail elements on the market provided they do not exceed 1000W.
Suitable for Electric-Only or Dual Fuel Rails
Can be installed on a towel rail used purely for electric heating, or on a dual fuel rail connected to a central heating system, giving flexible control in either configuration.
IPX5 Rated for Bathroom Zones
Rated IPX5, allowing safe wiring of the towel rail element directly into the plate within the bathroom, in line with the appropriate bathroom electrical zone requirements.
Optional Chrome Cover Plate
A chrome-plated cover (TCPCP) is available separately for a sleek, coordinated finish alongside chrome towel rails and fittings.

Important Safety Information: This is a mains-voltage electrical control product. It must be fitted by a competent person who can ensure compliance with IEE wiring regulations, Part P and local authority regulations. The main electrical circuit and fused spur must both be isolated before fitting. Wiring must be connected exactly as specified — element wiring to the 'OUT' side and mains supply to the 'MAIN' side — as incorrect wiring can create a hazardous condition.
What size towel rail elements can the TCP200 control?
The TCP200 is designed to control elements from 150W up to 800W, and will work with most current towel rail elements provided they do not exceed a maximum of 1000W.
Can I use the TCP200 with a dual fuel towel rail?
Yes, the TCP200 can be installed on dual fuel installations connected to a central heating system, as well as on electric-only towel rails.
How does the boost function work?
Pressing the boost button switches the element to full power for 2 hours. If pressed while the unit is off, it will run at its previous setting for 2 hours before switching off; if pressed while the unit is already on, it runs at full power for 2 hours before reverting to the previous output setting.
Does the TCP200 need to be earthed?
No — the TCP200 itself does not require an earth connection. However, the earth wire from the towel rail element must still be connected to the earth post in the wall box, or to the ring main, as appropriate.
Is the TCP200 suitable for fitting in a bathroom?
Yes, it is rated IPX5, allowing the towel rail element to be wired directly into the plate within the bathroom, in line with the relevant bathroom electrical zone requirements.
Can I match the TCP200 to my chrome towel rail?
Yes, an optional chrome-plated cover (TCPCP) is available separately, giving a coordinated finish alongside chrome towel rails and fittings.
