The Strom Touch Screen Instantaneous Water Heater is a wall-mounted, tankless electric water heater available across four single-phase outputs — 7kW, 9kW, 11kW and 13.5kW — delivering an unlimited supply of hot water on demand at mains pressure, with no storage cylinder required. A compact 358 x 246 x 85mm body conceals a patented enclosed-loop multi-strand heating element that heats water as it flows through, feeding multiple outlets simultaneously.
A large widescreen LED touch screen displays both output and target temperatures in real time and gives audible feedback on every button press — set the exact temperature required and the heater's modulating element maintains it automatically. With a splash-proof matte IMD front cover, automatic fault detection with on-screen error codes, and an ErP energy efficiency rating of A across all four variants, it suits domestic multipoint hot water, shower feeds, kitchen and bathroom top-up, loft conversions, and off-gas properties.

Part P Qualified Electrician Required
All variants require a dedicated circuit from the consumer unit wired by a Part P registered electrician. Minimum cable and breaker sizes vary by model — 7kW: 4mm² / 40A MCB; 9kW: 6mm² / 45A MCB; 11kW: 10mm² / 50A MCB; 13.5kW: 10mm² / 63A MCB. Ensure the consumer unit has a spare way of sufficient rating, and that the busbars and main incomer can support the additional load, before ordering.
Choosing the Right Output
The right output depends on the incoming cold water temperature and the desired hot water flow rate. As a guide at typical UK mains temperatures: the 7kW suits a single low-flow outlet or basin; the 9kW delivers a comfortable rise at approximately 4LPM, suiting a single shower or basin; the 11kW raises this to around 5–6LPM for a standard shower head or basin plus outlet; the 13.5kW provides the highest flow at up to 7LPM for higher-flow showers or multiple simultaneous outlets. If in doubt, specify the next size up.
Actual Temperature Depends on Flow Rate
Output temperature is governed by power (kW), incoming cold water temperature, and flow rate together — the heater adds a fixed amount of thermal energy per litre passing through it, so a higher flow rate at the tap gives a smaller temperature rise. The touch screen set point is the ceiling the heater works towards, not a guaranteed delivery temperature regardless of flow.
Patented Enclosed-Loop Heating Element
Multiple independent heating strands inside a single element share the thermal load rather than concentrating stress at one point, with heat spread across the entire surface area to reduce hotspot-driven limescale buildup.
Multi-Layer Chamber, Reduced Limescale
The multi-layer heating chamber is designed to minimise limescale accumulation, helping the heater hold closer-to-original output and flow rate over time compared with single-strand designs, particularly in hard water areas.
Touch Screen LED Display
The widescreen LED touch screen shows current output temperature and target temperature simultaneously, with audible button feedback and on-screen fault codes if a problem is detected.
Splash-Proof IMD Front Cover
The matte IMD (In-Mould Decoration) splash-proof cover protects against water splashes from taps and showers, suiting installation in bathrooms (in the appropriate IP zone), kitchens and utility rooms.
No Storage, No Standing Heat Loss
As a true instantaneous heater there is no stored water — cold water is heated only as it passes through, giving zero standing heat losses and removing the Legionella risk associated with stored hot water volumes.
Compatible With Solar PV Diversion
Works alongside a solar PV diverter (such as a myenergi Eddi or iBoost) to use surplus solar generation for water heating, since the heater only draws power while hot water is actually running.

What temperature will the hot water come out at?
Output temperature depends on power, incoming cold water temperature, and flow rate together. The faster the flow, the smaller the temperature rise per litre; opening a second tap increases total flow and reduces the rise. Temperature is effectively adjusted by adjusting flow at the tap, with the touch screen set point acting as the ceiling the heater targets.
Can this be the sole source of hot water in a property?
Yes, the range is designed for multipoint whole-property hot water supply, not just a single point of use. A single 13.5kW unit can typically serve a 1–2 bathroom property with sequential (not fully simultaneous) demand; larger properties or fully simultaneous outlets may need two units on separate circuits.
Does my consumer unit need upgrading?
It depends on existing capacity. The 13.5kW model needs a 63A MCB, which can exceed an older 60A or 80A main fuse's total available supply; the 7kW (40A), 9kW (45A) and 11kW (50A) models are more likely to fit within existing capacity. A Part P registered electrician should always check the consumer unit rating, spare ways, and total load before installation.
Can it be used with solar PV?
Yes, it is fully compatible with solar PV diversion. A solar diverter monitors the property's generation and import/export balance and diverts surplus electricity to the water heater, displacing grid electricity with effectively free hot water from daytime generation.
What does the fault detection display show?
The touch screen's automatic fault detection monitors internal sensors and shows an on-screen error code for common faults such as over-temperature, flow sensor errors, or element faults, helping a service engineer diagnose the issue before opening the unit.
What is the warranty and how do I register it?
A 5-year manufacturer's warranty applies when the product is registered with the manufacturer within 45 days of purchase, using the serial number and proof of purchase date; otherwise the warranty defaults to 1 year. The warranty covers manufacturing defects, provided the unit has been correctly installed and used within its specified pressure and electrical parameters.
