The SolaX TBMS-MCS0800 is the battery management system (BMS) for the T-BAT-SYS-HV-S3.6 high-voltage battery range, and every system needs one. It monitors and protects the TP-HS3.6 LiFePO4 modules, reports its operating state to the inverter, and provides the battery power, communication and start-up controls in a single unit.
This pack is supplied with the base included, so the first tower has its foundation and the BMS is ready to sit on top of your battery stack. It also ships with the power cables, BMS communication cable and mounting brackets needed to connect it to the inverter, and it is IP65 rated for indoor or outdoor installation.
The BMS carries a power switch and POWER start button, four SOC indicators plus a status light for at-a-glance charge state and faults, Black Start capability to restart the system when the grid and PV are unavailable, and heater control for cold-weather charging. It supports 50A charge and discharge on systems of 2 to 13 battery modules.

BMS or BMU?
You may see this part described as a BMU (battery management unit) by some suppliers. SolaX's own documentation calls it the BMS, model TBMS-MCS0800. It is the same component.
Required Component
One BMS is needed for each T-BAT-SYS-HV-S3.6 system, and the battery modules are sold separately. Systems of 10 or more modules must be built as two towers joined by a Series Box, which is also sold separately and comes with its own base and cables. Check the SolaX manual for the exact BMS and Series Box quantities for your inverter and module count before ordering.
Important Safety Information
High-voltage battery systems must be installed and commissioned by a qualified electrician following the SolaX manual and BS 7671. Follow MCS requirements and notify the DNO under G98/G99 where applicable. Do not mix battery types or makes, and never disassemble the BMS or battery modules. SolaX's manual states that the T-BAT SYS-HV should only be installed for residential applications and not for commercial applications.
Base Included
Supplied with the base, so the first tower has a levelling foundation. Its feet adjust to the floor, and the marked rear side goes against the wall.
Cables Included
Ships with a 2m orange (BAT+) and black (BAT-) power cable pair, a 2m BMS communication cable, brackets, screws and a rotation wrench.
Clear Status Display
Four SOC indicators and a status light show charge level, standby, charging, discharging, warnings and faults.
Black Start
Black Start capability lets the battery and inverter restart even when the grid and PV are out of service, by holding the POWER button for 20 seconds.
Cold-Weather Heating
A HEAT port manages the heating function so the system can charge from -30°C to 53°C when heating is on.
Expandable Design
Handles 2 to 13 modules per system, and connects to a Series Box for two-tower builds of 10 or more modules.

On the power cables that connect the BMS to the inverter, one connector on each cable is supplied in the inverter accessory kit. The cables meet B2ca requirements. The grounding cable is not supplied and must be prepared by the installer.
Is the base included?
Yes. The pack contains the BMS and the base, along with the power cables, communication cable, brackets and fixings. The battery modules and any Series Box are separate.
Is a BMU the same as a BMS?
Yes. Some suppliers call it a BMU, but SolaX names the part the BMS, model TBMS-MCS0800.
Which batteries does it work with?
The TP-HS3.6 modules in the T-BAT-SYS-HV-S3.6 system. The SolaX manual also lists the TP-HS25 modules of the S2.5 system as using the same BMS.
How many BMS units do I need?
One BMS per system. For 10 or more modules, the modules go in two towers joined by a Series Box, with the BMS still at the top of the first tower. Confirm quantities for your inverter and module count in the SolaX documents.
How do I switch the system on?
Turn the SWITCH to ON, then press the POWER button for more than 0.5 seconds. To shut down, turn the switch OFF and press POWER for 1 second.
What is Black Start?
Black Start lets the battery and inverter restart when the grid and PV are unavailable. Hold the POWER button for 20 seconds or more to trigger it.
Can it be used on a commercial site?
SolaX states in the manual that the T-BAT SYS-HV is for residential applications only, not commercial ones. Check with SolaX if your project is commercial.
Does it need a grounding cable?
Yes, but it is not supplied. The installer prepares the grounding cable and connects it to the BMS, using the RNB5-6 terminals in the box.
