The SolarEdge Home Backup Interface Three Phase (BI-NEUNU3P-01) enables full or partial home backup for three-phase properties connected to a SolarEdge Home Hub Inverter Three Phase. On grid failure, it automatically disconnects all three phases and neutral from the grid within 3 seconds, transferring the home (or selected loads) to inverter/battery power — while simultaneously preventing solar power from back-feeding into the de-energised grid. The unit includes an integrated inline energy meter (1.25% accuracy) and supports both TT and TN grid topologies. With an IP65 rating and outdoor environmental category, it is suitable for installation inside or adjacent to the main distribution panel.

⚠ Installer Note — This device operates at 3-phase 230/400 V mains voltage and carries 3 × 63 A. Installation must be carried out by a qualified G99-competent electrician. Isolate all phases and confirm dead before wiring. A G99 application may be required for three-phase battery + backup installations — consult your DNO before commencing.
⚡ Compatibility — Compatible exclusively with the SolarEdge Home Hub Inverter — Three Phase. Not compatible with single-phase Home Hub inverters, commercial inverters, or third-party inverters. The Home Hub Three Phase inverter must have SolarEdge Home Battery storage connected for backup operation. Supported grid topologies: TT, TN-S, TN-C-S.

Can I back up only selected circuits rather than the whole house?
Yes — the Backup Interface supports partial home backup. During installation, the circuits you want protected during a grid outage are connected to the output of the Backup Interface, while non-essential circuits remain on the main grid supply side. Homeowners can also set priorities through the SolarEdge monitoring platform, allowing the system to shed lower-priority loads automatically if battery capacity is limited.
Do I need a separate energy meter with this unit?
No — the BI-NEUNU3P-01 includes an integrated inline energy meter with 1.25% import/export accuracy. This removes the need to install a separate SolarEdge Modbus meter at the grid connection point, simplifying the installation and reducing component count.
How long does the switchover to backup take?
The switchover from grid to backup takes less than 3 seconds. This is sufficient to maintain operation of most household loads, though some devices with sensitive electronics or small internal capacitors (certain computers, NAS units, or variable-speed drives) may reset during the transition. For seamless switchover with no interruption, a UPS on sensitive equipment would be required alongside the backup system.
