The Samsung MRW-TA is a remote room temperature sensor (Samsung calls it an external room sensor) that takes the temperature reading away from the indoor unit or wall controller and places it where it is actually needed. Supplied with a 12 m extension cable, it lets you sense a secondary zone, or use the Samsung LCD purely as a controller while the sensor reads a single zone in a better location.
Each kit includes fixing screws, cable ties, wire joints, two connection adapters and an insulating seal kit, and the sensor can be surface mounted or flush mounted on a switch box, so it suits both retrofit and new-build installs.

Installation safety
The manufacturer states this sensor must be installed by a qualified installation specialist in line with national electrical rules. Isolate the indoor unit power before connecting the cable and do not switch it back on until wiring is complete. Keep the sensor away from combustible gas, oil, sulphide gas, acid or alkali solutions and special sprays, and prevent water entering the casing.
Compatibility: please check before ordering
The MRW-TA is supplied for use with the Samsung EHS control unit (MIM-E03**). The manufacturer installation manual (DB98-31156A) describes connection to an indoor unit PCB through the supplied 4P-WIRE or 2P-WIRE adapter, notes that the K1 switch on the PCB must be set to OFF, and states that some models need a software upgrade. Confirm your exact Samsung unit and settings before ordering.
Where to fit it
Choose a spot that reads the average room temperature, at the recommended 1.1 m above the floor. Avoid direct sunlight, other heat sources (electric heaters, humidifiers, computer monitors), direct discharge from the air outlet, and draughts from doors and windows.
Key features
Remote room sensing
Moves temperature measurement to a more representative location than the indoor unit or controller.
Secondary zone control
Operate a temperature sensor in a secondary zone from the same Samsung system.
Controller-only LCD
Use the Samsung LCD just as a controller while this sensor handles single zone readings.
12 m extension cable
The supplied 12 m cable can be cut to length and re-terminated with an M4 ring terminal (field supplied).
Surface or flush mount
Fix directly to the wall with M4x16 screws, or to a switch box metal plate to run the cable inside the wall.
Connection kit included
Cable ties, wire joints, two adapters and an insulation seal kit are supplied in the box.

Installation notes
Remove the cover by pressing the groove at the base of the case, then knock out the cable entry at the top. Loosen the terminal screws, fit the ring terminals of the extension cable and tighten fully so the two terminals cannot touch, then secure the cable with a cable tie with the knot inside the case. Do not cut the factory ring terminals, do not splice cables without a connector, and keep the cable away from power cables or sources of electrical noise. Make sure the sensor air vent is not blocked, then run the unit in heating or cooling to confirm normal operation.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Samsung MRW-TA do?
It is a remote room temperature sensor. It lets a Samsung system read temperature in a chosen room or zone instead of at the indoor unit or controller, either for a secondary zone or as the sole sensor for a single zone.
Is it wireless?
No. It is a wired sensor connected by the supplied 12 m extension cable, which should be routed inside the wall or protected by a cover so users cannot touch it.
Where should I mount it?
At 1.1 m from the floor in a location that reflects average room temperature, out of direct sunlight, away from heat sources, air outlets and draughts.
Can I shorten the cable?
Yes. Cut the cable to length, strip the insulation without damaging the inner conductors and fit an M4 ring terminal (field supplied). Do not cut off the original ring terminals if you are using the cable at full length.
Can I fit it myself?
The manufacturer requires installation by a qualified installation specialist in line with national electrical rules, with the indoor unit isolated throughout the work.
