The Samsung Monobloc Heat Pump Gen 7 R290 range is a high‑temperature, single‑fan air‑to‑water monobloc system using low‑GWP R290 refrigerant, delivering up to 75°C flow for space heating and hot water in residential applications across a wide range of outputs.
Key Features
- Natural R290 refrigerant – ultra‑low GWP refrigerant with high leaving‑water temperature capability, supporting up to 75°C flow for radiators and high‑temperature DHW cylinders.
- Single‑fan monobloc design – compact outdoor‑only unit containing the complete refrigeration circuit, plate heat exchanger, and circulator interface, simplifying installation and refrigerant handling.
- High seasonal efficiency – MCS‑listed SCOP values at typical UK design conditions, optimised for low‑to‑medium temperature emitters and weather‑compensated control.
- Quiet operation – low sound power levels with multi‑step quiet mode and advanced acoustic insulation to reduce noise in residential settings.
- Smart connectivity – integration with Samsung controls and SmartThings Energy for remote monitoring, scheduling, and energy‑optimised operation.
Electrical Configuration
- Single‑phase models: AE050CXYDEK, AE080CXYDEK, AE120CXYDEK and AE160CXYDEK are designed for 220–240V, 50Hz single‑phase supplies, suitable for typical UK domestic connections (subject to DNO approval at higher capacities).
- Three‑phase models: AE080CXYDGK, AE120CXYDGK and AE160CXYDGK are designed for 400V class three‑phase supplies, ideal for larger properties or small commercial sites with three‑phase incoming power.
- Dedicated control kit: all outdoor units require a compatible Samsung mono control kit (such as MIM‑E03EN) and hydraulic components (buffer, filters, expansion, etc.) for a complete system.
Performance & Application
- Heating outputs: nominal 5kW, 8kW, 12kW and 16kW models (at A7/W35) cover a wide range of UK dwellings, from well‑insulated smaller homes to larger or less efficient properties.
- High‑temperature capability: maximum leaving‑water temperature up to 75°C supports existing radiator circuits and high‑temperature DHW production without direct electric backup in many cases.
- System flexibility: fully compatible with pre‑plumbed climate hub cylinders, standard heat‑pump cylinders, multi‑zone control, PV‑ready integration and demand response functions.
Physical & Installation Notes
- Compact footprint: single‑fan chassis across the range with varying heights and widths by capacity, enabling placement close to property boundaries where acoustic and spatial constraints apply.
- Hydraulic requirements: minimum and maximum flow rates specific to each output (with typical minimum water volumes around 30–50L) must be observed for stable operation and defrost performance.
- Typical accessories: mono control kit, buffer or low‑loss header where required, system filters, appropriate expansion vessels, and correctly sized emitters to achieve design flow temperatures and SCOP.
