The Photonic Universe 500Ah 2V AGM Battery is a single 2V deep cycle cell designed to be combined with others to build a bespoke 12V, 24V, or 48V energy storage bank. It's also supplied as a direct replacement cell for existing systems already built from 500Ah 2V AGM batteries. Like other AGM designs, all electrolyte is absorbed into a glass-fibre mat, making the battery non-spillable, completely sealed, and maintenance-free.

Building a Battery Bank: As a single 2V cell, multiple units are wired in series to build higher-voltage banks — for example, 6 cells for a 12V bank, 12 cells for 24V, or 24 cells for 48V. This cell is also suitable as a like-for-like replacement in an existing 2V AGM bank.
Charging Current Limit: Keep any charge controller or charger output at or below the 100A maximum charging current for this cell. When several cells are wired in series for a bank, the same current flows through the whole string, so the bank's charge current is still limited to 100A regardless of the number of cells.
Operating Temperature Range: Rated for use between -10°C and +40°C. Operating outside this range, particularly on the high end, can accelerate degradation and shorten service life — ensure the battery compartment has adequate ventilation.
Maintenance-Free AGM Design
With the electrolyte absorbed into a glass-fibre mat, there's no need for liquid or electrolyte top-ups over the cell's operating life.
Sealed & Terminal-Protected

How many of these cells do I need for a 12V, 24V or 48V bank?
As a 2V cell, you'll need 6 cells wired in series for a 12V bank, 12 for 24V, or 24 for 48V. All cells in a series string should be the same age and condition for balanced performance.
Can I use this as a replacement for an existing battery bank?
Yes — this cell can be used as a replacement battery for systems already built from 500Ah 2V AGM cells. If replacing only some cells in an older bank, bear in mind mixing new and used cells in series can lead to imbalance over time.
What's the maximum charging current for a full bank built from these cells?
Each cell is rated to a maximum charging current of 100A. Since cells in a series bank share the same current path, the whole bank's charge current should also stay within 100A, regardless of how many cells are connected in series.
Does this battery need to be kept upright?
No — the AGM design means the cell's position doesn't have to be upright at all times, giving more flexibility when arranging cells in a bank or fitting them into a battery compartment.
