The Panasonic WH-CME8 is the three-phase Control Module for the Aquarea M Series T-CAP R290 range, matched to 9 kW, 12 kW and 16 kW three-phase outdoor units. It upgrades a standalone outdoor unit to enhanced functionality — providing the centralised electrical interface, higher-capacity backup resistance management and communication link needed for two-zone control, buffer tank integration and bivalent boiler backup on larger residential and light commercial installations.

When to choose the Control Module over the simple controller
Choose the WH-CME8 Control Module where your system needs two-zone heating control, a buffer tank connection, solar integration, or bivalent boiler backup. For straightforward single-zone installs, the simpler CZ-RTW2TAW1C wired controller is sufficient on its own.
Match the module to your outdoor unit's capacity and phase
The WH-CME8 covers three-phase 9–16 kW outdoor units. Larger three-phase systems from 20 kW upward need the WH-CME8L Control Module instead. For single-phase 9/12 kW outdoor units, see the WH-CME5 listing.
Key features
Centralised electrical management
Generates the backup electrical resistance supply, manages the system's main power feed, and handles communication with the outdoor unit — all from one integrated module.
Supports backup resistance up to 9 kW
Higher-capacity backup resistance support than the single-phase WH-CME5, sized for the demands of larger three-phase installations.
Built-in Wi-Fi adapter
Connects directly to Aquarea Smart Cloud, Panasonic Comfort Cloud, and Aquarea Service Cloud — no separate network adaptor accessory required.
Two-zone control
Unlocks independent control of two heating zones — for example underfloor heating and radiators running at different flow temperatures.
Buffer tank & bivalent integration
Supports connection to a buffer tank and bivalent boiler backup configurations, extending the system design options for larger properties.
Suited to residential and light commercial
Covers the 9–16 kW three-phase capacity band — a common fit for larger homes, small multi-occupancy buildings, and light commercial applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this compatible with my outdoor unit?
The WH-CME8 is matched to three-phase 9 kW, 12 kW and 16 kW M Series T-CAP outdoor units (WH-WXG09ME8, WH-WXG12ME8, WH-WXG16ME8). Check your outdoor unit's phase and capacity before ordering.
What's the difference between WH-CME8 and WH-CME8L?
Both are three-phase Control Modules, but the WH-CME8 covers 9–16 kW outdoor units while the WH-CME8L covers the larger 20–30 kW commercial capacities. Match the module to your specific outdoor unit.
Do I still need the simple wired controller as well?
Yes — the Control Module handles the electrical and hydraulic management side, while the CZ-RTW2TAW1C (or an equivalent room controller) remains the user-facing interface for day-to-day operation.
What if my outdoor unit is single-phase?
Use the WH-CME5 Control Module instead — it's designed for single-phase 9 kW and 12 kW outdoor units. The WH-CME8 is three-phase only.
Do I need to be MCS-registered to install this?
The system can be installed by any competent heating engineer, but to claim the UK Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant the install must be carried out by an MCS-certified installer.
