Description

The Panasonic WH-CME5 is the single-phase Control Module for the Aquarea M Series T-CAP R290 range, matched to the 9 kW and 12 kW single-phase outdoor units. It upgrades a standalone outdoor unit to enhanced functionality — providing the centralised electrical interface, backup resistance management and communication link needed for two-zone control, buffer tank integration and bivalent boiler backup.

When to choose the Control Module over the simple controller

Choose the WH-CME5 Control Module where your system needs two-zone heating control, a buffer tank connection, solar integration, or bivalent boiler backup. For straightforward single-zone installs, the simpler CZ-RTW2TAW1C wired controller is sufficient on its own.

Match the module to your outdoor unit's phase

The WH-CME5 is for single-phase 9 kW and 12 kW outdoor units only. If your outdoor unit is three-phase, you need the WH-CME8 (9–16 kW) or WH-CME8L (20–30 kW) Control Module instead — see our matching listings.

What does the Control Module actually do?

Do I still need the simple wired controller as well?

Yes — the Control Module handles the electrical and hydraulic management side, while the CZ-RTW2TAW1C (or an equivalent room controller) remains the user-facing interface for day-to-day operation.

What if my outdoor unit is three-phase?

Use the WH-CME8 (for 9–16 kW three-phase units) or WH-CME8L (for 20–30 kW three-phase units) instead — the WH-CME5 is single-phase only.

Do I need to be MCS-registered to install this?

The system can be installed by any competent heating engineer, but to claim the UK Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant the install must be carried out by an MCS-certified installer.
