The Panasonic CU-4Z68CBE is a 4-connection Free Multi Z outdoor condensing unit, built to run up to four independently controlled indoor units from a single external condenser. It uses the R32 refrigerant and an inverter-driven rotary compressor to deliver flexible, room-by-room heating and cooling for homes needing four separate zones without four separate outdoor units.
Rated at 6.8kW nominal cooling and 8.5kW nominal heating, the CU-4Z68CBE supports a combined indoor capacity range of 4.5kW to 11.5kW, and reaches A+++ SEER efficiency. This is a distinct model from the similarly-rated 3-connection CU-3Z68CBE — the same 6.8kW capacity is delivered here across four ports instead of three.

This unit is charged with R32, a fluorinated greenhouse gas covered by F-Gas Regulations. Installation, commissioning, and any refrigerant handling must be carried out by an F-Gas certified engineer. See the certification form above before ordering.

Panasonic offers two 6.8kW outdoor units on the Free Multi Z platform: this CU-4Z68CBE (4 connections) and the CU-3Z68CBE (3 connections). They share the same nominal cooling and heating output but differ in port count, connectable indoor capacity range, and efficiency figures — confirm the correct model against the number of rooms in the project before ordering.
Good to Know: Minimum Two Indoor Units Must Be Connected
The CU-4Z68CBE is designed to run 2 to 4 indoor units — at least two must be connected for the system to operate correctly. The combined nominal cooling capacity of all connected indoor units must fall within the 4.5kW–11.5kW connectable range.
Four Independent Zones From One Outdoor Unit
A single compact condenser drives up to four rooms with individual temperature control on each, cutting down on external wall space and pipework runs compared to installing four single-split systems.
Inverter-Driven Rotary Compressor
The inverter compressor modulates output to match real-time demand across all connected rooms rather than cycling on and off, which improves comfort, reduces electricity use, and lowers operating noise.
A+++ SEER Efficiency
Achieves an SEER rating of 8.50 (A+++), ahead of the equivalent-capacity 3-connection CU-3Z68CBE, which is rated A++.

How many indoor units can I connect to the CU-4Z68CBE?
Between 2 and 4 indoor units can be connected. At least two must be connected for the system to run — it cannot be operated with only one indoor unit fitted.
What's the difference between CU-4Z68CBE and CU-3Z68CBE?
Both deliver 6.8kW nominal cooling, but the CU-4Z68CBE offers 4 connections against 3 on the CU-3Z68CBE, has a slightly different connectable indoor capacity range (4.5–11.5kW vs 4.5–11.2kW), and is rated A+++ SEER (8.50) versus A++ (8.20) on the 3-connection model. Choose based on how many rooms the project needs, not just the nominal kW rating.
