How it Works
Normally, surplus solar energy is exported to the grid. The eddi 2.1 monitors your generation and consumption in real time — thousands of times per second — and automatically diverts any excess power to your immersion heater, storage heater, or other resistive load. You get free hot water or heating from electricity you'd otherwise give away. The minimum load is just 100W, so it starts making use of even modest surpluses.

⚡ Installation Note
The eddi 2.1 must be installed by a qualified electrician. The CT clamp is clamped around the grid import/export cable at the meter board; the eddi unit is then wall-mounted nearby. The optional harvi wireless sensor is available separately for meter boards located in difficult-to-cable positions. WiFi setup is completed via the myenergi app during commissioning.

Yes — the eddi 2.1 is compatible with any grid-connected solar PV or wind generation system. It uses a CT clamp on the grid connection to measure import and export, so no changes to your inverter or existing wiring are needed.
What type of heater can the eddi 2.1 control?
The eddi 2.1 is designed for resistive (purely electric) loads such as standard immersion heaters (1kW–3kW) and storage heaters. It is not suitable for heat pumps or any load that does not accept variable power input. It can control up to two such heaters sequentially.
What happens on cloudy days or when there's no surplus?
When there's no surplus to divert, the eddi 2.1 does nothing and your heater stays off in ECO mode. You can use Boost mode or set a schedule to top up from the grid at a time of your choosing — for example, overnight on a cheap tariff.
Does the eddi 2.1 work with a myenergi zappi EV charger?
Yes. When multiple myenergi devices share the same harvi or wired CT, they communicate with each other and share the available surplus intelligently. You can set priorities in the myenergi app to decide whether you want to charge your car or heat your water first.
Is the eddi 2.1 compatible with battery storage systems?
Yes — the eddi works alongside myenergi libbi battery storage. You can set it to only divert once the battery reaches a target state of charge, ensuring your battery fills first and only truly excess electricity goes to the immersion heater.

The eddi 2.1 (this product) is for standard single-phase UK domestic supplies (the vast majority of homes). The eddi+ 3-Phase is designed for commercial and larger residential properties with a three-phase supply, and offers up to 9kW diversion per phase.
