Description

The Mersen HelioProtection HP10M15 string fuse is a 15A, 1000V DC gPV fuse in a 10 × 38mm body, designed to protect PV modules against reverse currents and ideal for managing strings in commercial PV systems. It suits a wide range of typical string configurations within the input parameters of three-phase inverters up to 50kW.

Mersen designs the HP10M series with a low minimum breaking capacity of 1.35 times the rated current so it can safely interrupt the low fault currents typical of PV arrays, while offering a 10kA maximum breaking capacity. It is UL listed, CSA certified and approved to IEC 60269-6 (gPV). Each fuse requires a suitable fuse holder.

Safety and compliance

Fuse selection and installation must be carried out by a competent person in line with the system design and BS 7671. Do not open or replace fuses under load.

Select the correct rating

The fuse rating must be lower than or equal to the module's maximum reverse current (IRM), at least 1.4 × Isc for an enclosure ambient of 45°C or less, and the rated voltage at least 1.2 × the string's open-circuit voltage. Higher enclosure temperatures need further derating. Fuses are not normally needed for one or two strings in parallel.
