Description

The Conex Bänninger MaxiPro 5/8" 90° bend changes the direction of copper refrigerant tube with a flame-free press joint. It is a compact, standard radius elbow for tight spots where there is no room to form a bend in the tube or handle a torch, and it joins air conditioning, refrigeration and heat pump pipework with no brazing and no nitrogen purge.

Made from refrigerant-grade copper with an HNBR O-ring, it is rated to 48 bar and is compatible with R32 and R410A. On sizes from 1/2" up, a hook feature maintains the fitting's high-pressure performance.

Conex Bänninger states MaxiPro fittings must be installed by an installer who is trained and qualified to work on air conditioning and refrigeration installations and certified through the MaxiPro training course. The 10-year guarantee applies only to certified installers.

MaxiPro is approved for air conditioning and refrigeration use only. It is not approved for heating and hot water systems, drinking water or medical gas, and it is for copper-to-copper connections only. A pressed fitting can only be pressed once.

This is the standard radius MaxiPro 90° bend (series MPA5002). Conex Bänninger also makes a long radius 90° bend for applications that are sensitive to pressure loss.

Frequently asked questions

When would I use a press bend instead of bending the tube?

A press bend is useful where a tight turn is needed, where hard or half-hard straight tube is used, or where brazing is not practical. Soft coil can also be bent by hand or with a bending spring.

Do I need a special press tool?

Yes. MaxiPro fittings must be pressed with an approved press tool and MaxiPro jaws. A 19 kN tool suits inch sizes up to 1 1/8". Each fitting can only be pressed once.

Can the fitting rotate slightly after pressing?

Conex Bänninger states that some rotational movement in small pressed elbows is acceptable and does not affect the security of the joint. Do not deliberately rotate a joint after pressing.

Is it suitable for R32?

Yes. R32 is on the compatible refrigerant list. As an A2L refrigerant, additional or specific standards, local rules and codes of practice may apply.

What tube does it fit?

It fits 5/8" copper tube to EN 12735-1, EN 12735-2 or ASTM B280, in hard, half-hard or annealed condition. Check the MaxiPro tube compatibility tables for wall thickness.
