The ScaleBuster MISB12 is a physical water conditioner for ½" (G½") connections, using patented catalytic technology to prevent limescale formation without the use of electricity, chemicals, magnets or salt. By triggering a controlled nucleation reaction as water passes through its specially engineered internal chamber, the ScaleBuster alters the crystalline structure of calcium carbonate so that scale-forming minerals remain in suspension rather than depositing on pipe walls, boiler components and water-using appliances.
The ScaleBuster's catalytic core is manufactured in Britain to exacting tolerances and carries both NSF International and WRAS certifications — confirming suitability for use on potable water supplies. How is the ScaleBuster different from a magnetic conditioner?The ScaleBuster uses a patented catalytic physical process — not magnets or electromagnetic fields. Its performance is consistent regardless of pipe material (copper, plastic or steel), flow rate or pipe orientation. Magnetic devices can lose effectiveness over time and their performance can vary depending on the magnetic properties of the pipe material.
Does it soften water or change water chemistry?No. The ScaleBuster does not remove minerals from the water or alter its chemical composition. It changes how calcium carbonate crystallises so that scale-forming particles remain suspended in the water flow rather than depositing as hard scale. The water will still test as "hard" but will cause significantly less scale formation on surfaces and appliances.
Which direction should it be installed?The ScaleBuster body is marked with a flow direction arrow — install with the arrow pointing in the direction of water flow. It can be installed in any orientation (horizontal, vertical or angled).
Will it protect my boiler and appliances?Yes. Installed on the incoming mains cold water supply, the ScaleBuster treats all water entering the property — protecting boiler heat exchangers, water heaters, taps, showers and all water-using appliances downstream.
Is there a larger size for my commercial premises?Yes — the MISB12 (½") is the smallest model in the range, suited to domestic applications. The MISB19 (¾"), MISB24 (1") and MISB32 (1¼") are available for higher flow commercial applications.
