The Joule Cyclone Plus Indirect Standard is a mains-pressure unvented hot water cylinder built around a high-grade Duplex stainless steel vessel, engineered for use with a gas or oil boiler, a heat pump, or any other indirect heat source. Available in seven capacities from 90L to 300L, it's sized for anything from a compact flat to a large family home with multiple bathrooms.
Every cylinder in the range shares the same core engineering: a smooth-tube primary coil for fast, efficient heat transfer, 100% CFC/HCFC-free polyurethane insulation to keep standing losses low, and a factory-fitted 3kW immersion heater for electric backup. The cylinder is finished in a white outer case and supplied with a full unvented safety kit, so it arrives ready to plumb in rather than requiring separate parts sourcing.

Duplex Stainless Steel Vessel
The cylinder body is manufactured from high-grade Duplex stainless steel, chosen for its high mechanical strength and resistance to stress and crevice corrosion — the two failure modes that shorten the life of lower-grade cylinders in hard water areas.

Smooth-Tube Primary Coil
A high-performance smooth-tube coil gives faster reheat times and better heat transfer than a corrugated coil of the same size, so hot water recovers quicker after heavy use and the boiler or heat pump runs for less time per cycle.

Factory-Fitted 3kW Immersion
Every cylinder ships with a 3kW Incoloy immersion heater with an integral thermostat already fitted, giving you a reliable electric backup for hot water during a boiler outage or for topping up on an off-peak tariff.

Low Standing-Loss Insulation
50mm-thick, 100% CFC-free polyurethane foam insulation (ODP 0) wraps the vessel to minimise heat loss between draw-offs, which is what actually drives the ErP energy rating rather than the coil alone.

Complete Unvented Safety Kit
The cylinder is supplied with its full inlet control group, expansion vessel, T&P relief valve, tundish, and dual cylinder thermostat — everything a G3-qualified installer needs is in the box, with nothing to source separately.

Front-Access Plumbing
All hot, cold, coil, and safety connections are screwed with 22mm compression fittings and grouped at the front of the cylinder, which keeps the installation faster and means the unit can sit close to a wall.

What's the difference between the Indirect Standard and Indirect Slimline versions?
The Standard body is 545mm in diameter and generally shorter for a given capacity, which suits properties with adequate airing cupboard or plant room width. The Slimline body is a narrower 475mm diameter but taller, designed for tight spaces where height is available but width is restricted.
Can this cylinder be used with an air source heat pump?
Yes. The Indirect coil is compatible with any indirect heat source, including gas boilers, oil boilers, and air-to-water heat pumps. If you're pairing it with a heat pump, check the coil's rated output against your heat pump's flow temperature to confirm adequate reheat performance — Joule's dedicated High Gain Indirect range is also available if you need faster recovery at lower flow temperatures.
Does this cylinder come with the unvented safety kit included?
Yes. Every cylinder is supplied with the complete unvented kit — inlet control group, expansion vessel and hose, T&P relief valve, tundish, and dual cylinder thermostat — so there's nothing extra to source before installation.
Who can install this cylinder?
Unvented hot water cylinders must be installed and commissioned by a G3-qualified installer in accordance with Building Regulations Part G (England & Wales) or the equivalent regulations in Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Benchmark Commissioning Checklist should be completed and left with the customer on completion.
What warranty does the cylinder carry?
The stainless steel vessel carries Joule's 25-year warranty against faulty materials or manufacture, provided the cylinder is installed by a qualified installer and serviced annually. Controls and components carry a separate 2-year warranty.
