The Ideal Heating Halo Lite RF is a wireless, OpenTherm-enabled programmable room thermostat (PRT) built as a single-zone control for current Ideal Heating combi boilers. Pairing a battery-powered handset with a wall-mounted receiver wired directly into the boiler's low-voltage OpenTherm connection, the Halo Lite RF delivers load compensation that satisfies Boiler Plus requirements while giving households a large, easy-to-read colour display and simple dial-and-button control. It is designed to be intuitive for tenants and straightforward for landlords managing multiple properties, and is compatible with current Ideal Logic and Vogue combi boiler ranges.
Important: Boiler compatibility cut-off
The Halo range is only compatible with Ideal boilers manufactured after 2019, as Ideal changed the internal boiler connections from that point onward. Confirm the boiler's manufacture date before ordering.
Please Note: Receiver wiring — OpenTherm only
The Halo Lite RF receiver must be wired into the boiler's OpenTherm low-voltage connection only and must never be connected to a 230 Vac supply. If reusing existing thermostat wiring, confirm it is not carrying mains voltage before connecting.
Load compensation for Boiler Plus
The Halo Lite RF applies load compensation, modulating boiler flow temperature against the room's heating demand rather than simple on/off cycling. This satisfies Boiler Plus Building Regulations requirements and improves seasonal efficiency without extra sensors.
Wireless PRT with wired receiver
The handset communicates with its wall-mounted receiver over 868 MHz RF, so the thermostat itself can be positioned wherever gives the best reading of room temperature, while the receiver stays wired close to the boiler.
OpenTherm communication
Using the OpenTherm protocol rather than a basic volt-free connection allows the thermostat to modulate the boiler continuously, rather than simply switching it on and off, for smoother temperature control.

Will the Halo Lite RF work with my existing Ideal boiler?
It is compatible with current Ideal Logic and Vogue combi boilers, but only those manufactured after 2019. Ideal changed the boiler-side connections at that point, so older combi boilers are not compatible with the Halo range.
Does this control heating zones or hot water separately?
The Halo Lite RF is a single-zone combi thermostat — it controls the heating circuit only. Combi boilers provide hot water on demand, so a separate hot water zone is not applicable.
Is this a smart or Wi-Fi thermostat?
No. The Halo Lite RF is a non-connected control — all scheduling and temperature adjustments are made directly on the handset. It communicates only with its own wired receiver over 868 MHz RF, not to the internet or a smartphone app.
How is the receiver powered and connected?
The receiver is wired into the boiler's OpenTherm connection and should never be connected to mains (230 Vac) wiring. The Halo Lite handset itself runs on 4x AA batteries, which are included.
How many heating schedules can I set per day?
