The Honeywell Home VTL15 Essential (MPN VTL15-15A) is a matching 15 mm angled thermostatic radiator valve and lockshield set with modern matt silver nickel-plated brass bodies and a white easy-grip, non-slip head. The valve is approved to EN 215 and listed for Keymark, with A-rated energy-saving performance, and a modulating insert in the body that gives the heating system just the flow needed to hold the set temperature.
The bodies are bi-directional and tested for quiet operation in both flow directions, so the TRV can go on the flow or return end of the radiator. The integrated balancing insert offers six flow presets for quick commissioning of a balanced system, and the concealed temperature range limit on the head cannot be easily unlocked once the memory clip is removed, which suits rented, shared and public-facing properties.
The head can be mounted vertically or horizontally by swapping the tailpiece and pipe fittings, the radiator tailpiece has 6 mm of play for variation in radiator distance, and the standard M30 × 1.5 connection lets you retrofit other Honeywell Home heads or evohome electronic TRV heads later. Rated PN10 (10 bar) with 15 mm compression connections.

Do not leave the head on position 0 in freezing weather
Honeywell advises that heating can freeze when a radiator thermostat is set to position 0. The zero position is still thermostatically controlled, so the valve may reopen as the temperature falls, but it should not be relied on as frost protection for an unheated property.
Two-pipe systems and installation conditions
The VTL15 is suitable for two-pipe systems only. Do not cover the head with a curtain or place furniture in front of it. The system water should meet VDI 2035 (pH 8 - 9.5), additives must suit EPDM seals (avoid mineral oils), heavily polluted systems must be flushed, and the system must be fully deaerated. Honeywell notes the valve is not for installations with extreme pump heads.
What's in the box
1 × VTL15 TRV with thermostatic head and 1 × matching 15 mm lockshield, with tailpieces, nuts and compression olives for 15 mm copper pipe. The TRV is supplied with a protection cap that can positively shut off the valve. The lockshield can be throttled or shut off with a 4 mm Allen key.
Key Features
Matt Silver Nickel Bodies
Modern matt silver nickel-plated brass TRV and lockshield bodies with white heads suit contemporary radiators and pipework.
Bi-Directional and Quiet
Bidirectional flow lets you fit the TRV to either end of the radiator, and the valve is designed and tested for noise-free operation in both flow directions.
Integrated Balancing Insert
Six presets from 20 to 170 l/h (factory setting 6) limit the valve's maximum capacity. Balancing keeps the boiler condensing and helps stop it switching on and off frequently.
Concealed Range Limiting
Slide out the range-locking pins with the memory clip to limit the temperature setting range. Without the clip, the limit cannot easily be undone.
Flexible Fitting
Angled bodies flip to point the head upwards or sideways, the head can be mounted vertically or horizontally, and the 6 mm tailpiece play absorbs radiator spacing variation.
Maintenance-Free and Serviceable
A double O-ring seal keeps the spindle maintenance-free, and the insert can be replaced without draining down with service tool VA8200A001.
Suitable For
Everyday Radiator Upgrades
Replacing manual valves with room-by-room thermostatic control on 15 mm copper pipework.
New Two-Pipe Installations
New heating systems where each radiator needs a TRV and lockshield for control and balancing.
Rented and Shared Properties
Use the concealed range limit to restrict how high or low occupants can set the head.
Heating Systems with Condensing Boilers
Preset balancing helps keep the boiler in condensing mode through the heating cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this suitable for one-pipe systems?
No. The VTL15 is suitable for two-pipe systems only. Do not cover the head or place furniture in front of it, so it can sense the room temperature.
Which end of the radiator does the TRV go on?
Either end. The bidirectional bodies can be installed on the flow or the return with no need to change the flow direction. Fit the lockshield to the other end.
How do I balance the radiators?
Use the presetting key (VA8201PI04) to turn the setting dial to one of six positions. If the required flow does not match exactly, use the next higher setting. The default factory setting is position 6.
How do I limit the temperature range?
Slide the memory clip onto the handle and use it to slide the range-locking pins out to set the limits. The same clip is needed to push the pins back and remove the limit.
Can I replace the valve insert without draining the system?
Yes. The insert can be removed and replaced with the VA8200A001 service tool without draining down. A replacement insert (VS1200SX01) is available.
What other Honeywell Home heads fit?
The standard M30 × 1.5 connection accepts a wide range of Honeywell Home TRV heads, including alternative finishes, remote sensor and vandal-resistant versions, and the evohome electronic TRV heads. A replacement white head is T9002W0GB.
