The GSE In-Roof System Portrait Evolution half-frame (1840 x 1135mm) is the modular mounting tray at the heart of GSE Intégration's roof-integrated solar system. Manufactured from regenerated, 100% recyclable polypropylene, each half-frame clips together with its matching pair to form a tile-replacement tray that carries the PV module, the flashing kit, and the cabling channel in one interlocking assembly.
Two half-frames are required per PV module (portrait orientation), sized for panels within approx. 1800–1840mm (H) x 1131–1135mm (W). The system is MCS 012 certified (KIWA00041) and carries a 10-year system warranty when installed per GSE's installation manual. Manufacturer reference: ART105211.

Please Note
Always cross-check the module's confirmed length and width in millimetres against the frame reference size before ordering — half-frame sizing is module-specific and non-interchangeable between frame references.
Interlocking Tray Design
Half-frames clip together row by row using GSE's landscape/portrait interlock, removing the need for separate rails between modules within a row.
Recyclable Polypropylene Construction
Moulded from regenerated polypropylene, fully recyclable at end of life, supporting the system's sustainability credentials.
BIPV Roof Replacement
Functions as a building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system, replacing the section of tiles or slates under the array rather than sitting on top of them.
Fast On-Site Installation
GSE state that a trained installation team can fit 10 to 16 panels in around 6 hours, with 116 half-frames per pallet for efficient site logistics.
MCS 012 & BS 5534 Compliant
Wind uplift resistance of 2.25 kN/m² under MCS 012, wind-load tested to Eurocode 1 and BS 5534 UK wind-zone tables.
Fire-Rated Roof Covering
Rated BRoof(t4) for external fire performance, suitable for use on domestic and small commercial roofs across the UK.
10-Year System Warranty
Backed by a 10-year GSE system warranty when the half-frames, flashings, and clamps are installed together per the official installation manual.

Good to Know
Half-frames are supplied without clamps, rails, or flashings. These are ordered separately according to module frame thickness (30–35 mm) and roof covering type — see GSE's clamp and flashing compatibility tables.
Important Safety Information
In-roof installation involves working with roof structure, weatherproofing, and electrical connections. Installation must follow GSE's official installation manual and comply with MCS, local building regulations, and electrical safety standards. Use a qualified, trained installer.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many 1840 x 1135mm half-frames do I need per panel?
Each portrait PV module requires two half-frames — an upper and a lower half — which interlock at the module's mid-point to form the complete mounting tray.
Are clamps and rails included?
No. Half-frames are supplied on their own. Clamps, bottom rails, and flashings are separate line items, sized to your module's frame thickness (typically 30 mm or 35 mm) and chosen according to roof covering (interlocking tiles, slates, or flat tiles).
What roof pitch range does the system support?
The GSE In-Roof System supports roof pitches from 15° to 50° for UK installations (certification-dependent; other markets vary slightly).
Can this be installed on slate roofs?
Yes. The system is compatible with slates, flat tiles, and interlocking tiles, though the bottom and top connection method (rigid flashing, waterproofing strip, or drip flashing) differs by roof covering — refer to the installation manual for the correct method.
Does installing this system require special training?
GSE recommends installers complete the GSE Intégration Trained Installer programme (online modules plus in-person practical training) before undertaking installation, and this is a condition of some warranty terms.
