The Glow-worm HydraCyl is a high-recovery unvented hot water cylinder designed to work alongside Glow-worm heat pumps and system boilers. It has a stainless steel inner tank for strength, corrosion protection and high-temperature resistance, and a coil-in-coil design with a large heat exchange surface for fast hot water recovery.
Front-labelled connections and pipework make fitting easier in tight cupboards, and a cold water inlet dispersal plate protects heat stratification. HydraCyl comes in four capacities: 150, 175, 210 and 250 litres, is UK manufactured, and carries a 25-year corrosion resistance guarantee when registered through myREWARDS. Installed with a GeniaAir heat pump it unlocks the up to 5-year heat pump guarantee.

Unvented cylinder: competent installer required
HydraCyl is an unvented hot water cylinder. Installation, commissioning and servicing must be carried out by a suitably qualified, G3-competent installer following the manufacturer’s instructions and Building Regulations. Complete the anti-legionella setup in the system control; Glow-worm’s documentation states the electric back-up heater must be connected and activated for sufficient protection.
Allow service clearances
Glow-worm’s clearances are 5 mm, 5 mm, 25 mm, 85 mm and 400 mm in front of the bosses. Heights range from 1,139 mm to 1,799 mm at a 580 mm diameter, so check the cupboard before choosing a size.
Guarantees
*The 25-year corrosion resistance guarantee is available when the installation is registered through myREWARDS. Pair HydraCyl with a GeniaAir heat pump and register for the up to 5-year heat pump guarantee.
Key features
Fast recovery coil-in-coil
Large coil surface gives re-heat times of about 14 to 18 minutes to 70% in Glow-worm’s figures.
Stainless steel inner tank
Built for strength, corrosion protection and high temperatures.
Front-labelled connections
Pipework labelling on the front helps installers in tight cupboards.
Better stratification
The cold water dispersal plate reduces mixing of stored hot and incoming cold water.
Four capacities
150, 175, 210 and 250 litres to match household demand.
Heat-pump ready
Compatible with Glow-worm heat pumps and system boilers, including GeniaAir.

Frequently asked questions
Which size should I choose?
Match capacity to household demand: 150 L and 175 L for smaller homes and 210 L and 250 L for higher demand, using your design hot water calculation. The larger two have the bigger 34.5 kW coil.
Is HydraCyl suitable for heat pumps?
Yes. It is designed to work with Glow-worm heat pumps and system boilers and combines with GeniaAir, MiPro Sense and MiGo Link as a connected system.
What guarantees apply?
25-year corrosion resistance when registered through myREWARDS, and an up to 5-year heat pump guarantee when installed with a GeniaAir and registered.
How much room do I need around it?
Allow 5 mm, 5 mm, 25 mm and 85 mm on the sides and top as shown in Glow-worm’s clearance drawing, plus 400 mm in front of the bosses.
Who can install it?
Unvented cylinders must be installed and commissioned by a competent person with G3 qualification in line with Building Regulations.
Can I add an immersion heater?
Glow-worm lists a titanium immersion heater as a cylinder accessory; check its fit and wiring in the accessory instructions.
