The Genius Roof Slate Kit for New Build, built around the manufacturer's SolarFlash system, is the dedicated waterproof flashing solution for new-build slate roofs and slate roofs that have been fully stripped and are being reinstalled. Manufactured by Hallclip (Genius Roof Solutions), it uses the same large-format SolarFlash panel as the Slate Refit Kit, but without the additional Hallhook and compensation hook hardware needed only for retrofitting around an existing course of slates.
Because the roof is being slated fresh rather than cut and refitted around an existing bracket, installation follows the standard slating sequence: brackets are fixed, the SolarFlash panel and foam are fitted around the bracket, and slating continues as normal with cuts made around the SolarFlash hood. This keeps the bracket free to move without ever contacting the slate or flashing beneath it, supporting MCS 012 compliant weatherproofing.

Waterproof SolarFlash Panel
The 365mm x 365mm large SolarFlash panel sits proud of the roof anchor bracket, allowing the bracket to move freely without ever contacting the flashing or making the slate beneath it load-bearing.
Designed for New-Build Sequencing
Slating proceeds in the standard order — brackets fixed to rafters, slate laid as normal, cuts made around the bracket and SolarFlash hood — without the extra retrofit hardware needed on an existing roof.
Weather Stop Foam Included
A foam insert seals the SolarFlash hood against the bracket drop, designed to stop wind-driven snow from being carried into the roof space.
Shims for Bracket Clearance
Two wooden shims (packings) are supplied to lift the roof anchor bracket away from the slate beneath it where extra clearance is needed.
Suits Natural & Manmade Slate
Compatible with both natural slate and manmade (fibre cement) slate roofs, giving flexibility across different slate specifications.
No Specialist Training Required
Installation follows the familiar slating process with no additional expert knowledge needed beyond standard roofing practice.
Good to Know: The 'Large' SolarFlash panel is sized for slates being laid double lap with a head lap of up to 100mm, and for a maximum slate length of 600mm (24 inches). As a guide, slate sizes are marked on the SolarFlash panel, which can be trimmed or nailed through as needed.
