Description

The Fusebox Type 2 surge protection device kit (1+N-PE, 40kA), part number SPDCUKITT2, is a single-module (18mm) Type 2 SPD supplied with a 32A B type MCB and 6mm² connecting cables. It is built to EN 61643-11 (Type 2) and rated at 20kA nominal and 40kA maximum discharge current.

The SPD uses MOV and GDT (spark gap) technology for a response time of 25ns or less, with a green/red flag indicator showing when it is good or needs replacing. It suits TN-C-S, TN-S and TT systems and has a 50kA short circuit withstand. The cables can be shortened if required.

Safety and compliance

This device must be installed and tested by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671. Check all connections are torqued before powering up, because loose connections cause fires.

Insulation resistance testing

With the SPD fitted, remove either the earth connection or the plug-in cartridge before insulation resistance testing. If you do not, test at a maximum of 250V DC.
