The Fox ESS A7300S1-E-B is a 7.3kW single-phase untethered EV charger finished in black, built on Fox ESS's second-generation A Series platform. Installation note: This charger includes internal RCD-DD protection (30mA AC / 6mA DC), but an external RCCB is still required per UK wiring regulations. It also integrates PEN fault protection to BS 7671 Clause 722.411.4.1 (Method 4), so no additional earth electrode is needed on TN-C-S (PME) supplies. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with local regulations.

Does the A7300S1-E-B come with a charging cable?
No — this is the socket (untethered) version. It has a Type 2 socket on the charger, and the driver plugs in using their own Type 1 or Type 2 vehicle cable. This makes it a flexible choice for multi-vehicle households.
Do I need an external RCD/RCBO with this charger?
Yes. The unit has internal RCD-DD protection (30mA AC / 6mA DC), but Fox ESS specifies an external RCCB is still required, and recommends a 30mA Type A RCBO (230V/40A) for the 7.3kW model. Final protection must be confirmed by your installer against BS 7671.
Can this charger work with solar panels?
Yes. With a compatible CT clamp (included for single-phase models) and Fox ESS monitoring setup, the charger can prioritise surplus solar generation for charging before drawing from the grid.
Is this charger suitable for outdoor installation?
Yes. The body carries an IP65 rating (IP55 at the socket), IK08 impact protection, and salt-mist and UV-resistant treatment, and it's designed for wall or post mounting outdoors, operating down to -30°C.
What's included in the box?
The charger ships with a mounting backplate and bracket, 2 RFID cards, expansion fixings, cable terminals, an RJ45 connector, a CT clamp (single-phase models), and a quick installation guide. Post mounting requires a separate column, sold individually.
