The Fastensol Narrow Boat Tilt Mount is a semi-permanent, adjustable mounting system designed specifically for solar panels on canal boats and narrowboats. Rather than fixing your panel flat to the roof, the telescopic tilt legs let you flip the panel from port to starboard in seconds — so the array can always be angled towards the sun regardless of which way the boat is moored. When you're cruising, the same legs fold the panel down flat for a low profile and unobstructed sightlines along the roof.

Marine Fixing Note: The tilt legs are designed to be through-bolted and bonded to the boat roof surface. Adhesive and fixing method must be suitable for a marine, vibration-exposed environment — always follow the supplied assembly instructions and use a marine-grade sealant/adhesive rated for the surface material (steel, GRP, etc.).
Panel Size Compatibility: This kit uses 2.2m mounting rails, which sets a maximum usable panel length of 2.1m. Panels shorter than 1000mm or narrower than 800mm are not suitable for this system — check your panel's exact frame thickness (30–46mm) and dimensions before ordering.
Flip Between Moorings
The telescoping leg design lets the panel angle be reversed from one side to the other, so however the boat is moored on the day, the array can be re-angled to face the sun rather than being locked to a fixed orientation.
Fold Flat for Cruising
When underway, the legs retract so the panel sits flat against the roof. This keeps the profile low, reduces wind drag and windage noise, and preserves clear sightlines for the helmsman passing under bridges and low structures.
Universal Click-In Clamps
The GS Universal Clamp pops into the rail and stays in place during handling, then rotates 90° to switch between mid-clamp and end-clamp roles — one part covers both fixing positions instead of stocking two different clamps.
Rigid Edge-Mounted Rails
Rails are positioned close to the panel frame edge to maximise both the achievable tilt angle and the rigidity of the assembly, reducing flex and rattle from boat movement and wash.
Four-Leg Stability
All four tilt legs are positioned towards the outer edges of the rails for maximum stability under the panel, spreading load evenly across the mounting points.
Marine Aluminium Build
Rails and legs are built from AL6005-T5 aluminium, chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio and corrosion resistance — a sensible material choice for a system that lives permanently on a waterway.

Fixing Screws & Pads Not Included: As with other Fastensol tilt leg systems, self-tapping fixing screws and rubber isolation pads for the deck/roof interface are not included and should be sourced separately to suit your specific roof material and thickness.
Can I fit this to any solar panel?
The kit is compatible with framed solar panels between 1000–2100mm long, 800mm or wider, with a frame thickness of 30–46mm. Panels outside these dimensions won't fit the supplied rails or clamps correctly.
How does the tilt mechanism actually work?
Four telescopic aluminium legs attach to the underside rails. Extending the legs on one side and retracting the other tilts the panel toward that side, letting you flip the array's orientation between port and starboard as your mooring changes. Retracting all four legs lays the panel flat.
Is this a permanent fixing?
It's described as semi-permanent — the legs are glued and bolted to the roof or deck once positioned, so it isn't intended to be removed and repositioned regularly, but it isn't a fully integrated structural fixture either.
Do I need any extra parts to install this?
Yes — self-tapping fixing screws and rubber pads for the roof/deck fixing points are not included and should be selected to suit your boat's roof construction. A suitable marine adhesive/sealant is also needed for bonding the legs to the surface.
How do the clamps attach to the rail?
The GS Universal Clamp clips into the rail and stays in place while handling the panel. Once the panel is positioned, the clamp is moved against the frame edge and raised to lock onto the top of the rail, then tightened to the recommended torque using a hexagon (Allen) key.
