The Fastensol Flat Tile Roof Hook (Portrait) — TH02 is a stainless steel roof hook designed to secure Fastensol mounting rails to the roof structure beneath flat, plain, rosemary, biscuit, and peg tiles, for solar arrays installed in portrait orientation. It provides the structural connection between the rafters and the rail system, transferring wind and snow loads safely down into the roof structure.
Manufactured from corrosion-resistant stainless steel, the TH02 hook is fixed directly to a rafter using the tek screws provided, after a small number of tiles are lifted or removed to expose the fixing point. The tiles are then replaced around the hook body, and a weatherproof finish is best achieved using flashing or a proprietary product such as the Genius Solarflash.
Installation Method
To fit, a few tiles are removed from the roof at the marked positions and the hook is secured to a rafter pointing 'downhill' using the tek screws provided. Plywood padding can be used to achieve the correct spacing from the tile surface, and the tiles are then replaced around the hook. A fully weatherproof finish is best achieved using flashing or a proprietary product such as the Genius Solarflash; some installers also use Hookstops for additional tile retention.
Professional Installation Required
Installation of Fastensol mounting components must be carried out only by professionally trained installers. It is the installer's responsibility to verify the structural integrity of the roof or substructure the system is fixed to — rotten, rusted, undersized, or excessively spaced rafters are not suitable and installation on such structures will void the warranty.
Key Features
Purpose-Built for Flat & Plain Tiles
Specifically shaped for flat, plain, rosemary, biscuit, and peg tile roof coverings — tile types that require a different hook profile to curved pantile or interlocking concrete tiles.
Corrosion-Resistant Stainless Steel
Built from stainless steel for long-term structural reliability in exposed, weather-facing rooftop conditions across the full 12-year product warranty period.
Direct Rafter Fixing
Fixes directly to the rafter beneath the tile using tek screws, providing a solid load path for wind and snow forces rather than relying on the tile itself for structural support.
Portrait Orientation Support
Designed specifically for arrays mounted with panels in portrait orientation, positioning the rail correctly for this layout across the roof.
High Wind & Snow Load Rating
Part of a system rated to 60m/s wind load and 2.0kN/m² snow load, suitable for the majority of UK roof exposure categories.
MCS 012 Certified System
Forms part of the MCS 012-certified Fastensol pitched roof mounting system, supporting compliant installations under the UK's Microgeneration Certification Scheme.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which tile types is the TH02 hook suitable for?
The TH02 is designed for flat, plain, rosemary, biscuit and peg tiles. For pantile roofs, use the TH06 or TH01 hooks; for slate roofs, use the TH04; and for adjustable concrete interlocking tiles, use the TH05.
How is the TH02 roof hook installed?
A few tiles are lifted or removed at the marked fixing positions, and the hook is screwed directly into the rafter pointing downhill, using the tek screws provided. Plywood padding can be used to set the correct spacing before the tiles are replaced around the hook body.
How do I keep the roof weatherproof around the hook?
A weatherproof finish is best achieved using lead flashing or a proprietary product such as the Genius Solarflash around the point where the hook passes through the tile layer. Some installers also fit Hookstops for extra tile retention around the hook.
What is the maximum spacing between roof hooks?
Per Fastensol's installation guidance, roof hooks should be positioned at intervals of no more than 1.2 metres along each rail, to keep deflection and point loading within the system's design limits.
Can I use this with mounting rails or clamps from another brand?
No. Fastensol components are engineered as a matched system, and mixing Fastensol hardware with mounting equipment from other suppliers is not supported and will void the warranty. Always use genuine Fastensol rails, clamps, hooks and splices together as a complete system.
What warranty does this product carry?
Fastensol backs this product with a 12-year product warranty against defects in material and workmanship, plus a 5-year finish warranty on the anodised coating, from Xiamen Fasten Solar Technology Co., Ltd. The finish warranty is void if the component is not cleaned and maintained in line with AAMA 609 & 610-02 guidance for architecturally finished aluminium, and the full warranty is void if the product is modified, installed incorrectly, or mixed with another manufacturer's mounting hardware.
