The EcoFlow Ocean 2 Single-Phase Hybrid Inverter is an all-in-one, stackable solar and battery storage inverter available in 3.68kW, 5kW and 6kW output variants. Each model shares the same compact, pre-integrated design and stacks directly with Ocean 2 5.02kWh LFP battery modules, up to a maximum of six batteries (30.12kWh) per inverter.
Designed for fast, tool-light installation, the inverter features built-in handles, captive side screws and no decorative side covers, alongside a built-in smart meter that removes the need for a separately wired external meter on straightforward installations. Where the system needs to measure a third-party string inverter or specific tariff arrangement, a separate external smart meter may still be required — see the amber note below.

Please Note: This inverter is supplied without a smart meter and requires a separate external smart meter for correct system commissioning in most UK installations, in addition to its internal metering. Confirm the correct meter model for your specific tariff and installation type before ordering — see our EcoFlow Smart Meter product listings.
Key Features
Three Power Options in One Range
Available as 3.68kW (standard UK DNO export limit), 5kW or 6kW models, allowing the inverter to be matched to household demand or DNO connection limits.
Stackable Battery Expansion
Each inverter supports a floor-standing stack of up to 6 Ocean 2 5.02kWh batteries, for a maximum storage capacity of 30.12kWh per inverter.
Ultra-Compact, Pre-Integrated Design
A footprint of just 0.15m², with built-in handles, captive side screws and no side decorative covers, significantly reducing on-site installation time.
Cross-Generation Compatibility
Compatible with EcoFlow's earlier PowerOcean LFP batteries. When mixing battery generations in a single stack, a maximum of 4 batteries total can be combined.
Dual MPPT Solar Input
Features 2 independent MPP trackers, supporting up to 12kW of total PV input power across separate strings.
Smart Home Energy Management
Works with the EcoFlow app and web portal for real-time monitoring, tariff optimisation and remote system management.

Important Safety Information: Installation must be carried out by a qualified, MCS-certified installer. Grid connection notification (G98 or G99, as applicable to the selected output) must be completed with the local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) before commissioning.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which output size do I need?
The 3.68kW model suits standard UK homes and typically qualifies for notification-free G98 connection. The 5kW and 6kW models offer higher output for larger homes or greater self-consumption needs, but require G99 notification to the DNO.
Why does this inverter need a separate meter?
While the inverter includes internal metering, a separate external smart meter is required for correct commissioning in many UK installations — particularly where a third-party string inverter is already installed, or where a specific tariff requires a dedicated MID-approved meter.
How many batteries can I add to this inverter?
Each inverter supports a floor-standing stack of up to 6 Ocean 2 5.02kWh batteries, giving a maximum storage capacity of 30.12kWh. Batteries can be added over time as your energy needs grow.
Can I mix Ocean 2 batteries with older PowerOcean batteries?
Yes, the systems are cross-generation compatible. However, when mixing battery generations in the same stack, a maximum of 4 batteries total can be combined.
Is professional installation required?
Yes. Installation must be carried out by a qualified, MCS-certified installer, with the appropriate grid connection notification (G98 or G99) completed for the selected inverter output.
