The Dyness Powerbox G2 is a 10.24 kWh low-voltage lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery designed for residential energy storage. With 9.728 kWh of usable energy, a 51.2 V, 200 Ah cell configuration and 1C discharge, it delivers strong power for household loads, supplying 5.12 kW nominal and 10.24 kW maximum from a single unit.
Supplied with the PC front cover panel, it has a slim 165 mm (6.5 in) profile, so it fits where bulkier batteries will not. It is rated IP65 for indoor or outdoor installation and mounts on the wall bracket or stands on the floor, with 30% less volume and 15% less weight than the previous generation. Capacity scales from 10.24 kWh up to 512 kWh with up to 50 units in parallel.
Safety is built in: an active fire protection system with a built-in aerosol extinguisher reacts within 5 seconds, and an explosion-proof valve provides automatic pressure relief. CAN and RS485 communication, a built-in Wi-Fi module with app OTA updates and an optional low-temperature heating function complete the package, backed by unlimited cycles over 10 years.

Heavy unit: plan the lift and the fixing
- The battery weighs 96 kg. Use suitable lifting equipment and enough people for the mounting method.
- Wall mounting needs a solid brick or cement wall at least 100 mm thick with strong load-bearing capacity.
- Earth the battery shell with a cable of at least 6 mm² (M6 ring terminal, 6 Nm).
- Fit only by trained professionals. In a fire, do not use water and keep a dry powder extinguisher nearby. Never mix batteries of different makes, models or ages.
- For UK installations, follow BS 7671 and the IET Code of Practice for Electrical Energy Storage Systems, and notify your DNO for the overall system as required (G98/G99).
Inverter communication and DIP switches
The battery talks to the inverter over CAN or RS485 through the supplied RJ45 cable. Set the master DIP switch to suit the inverter brand: factory setting 0000 for Solis, GoodWe, SAJ and SolaX, switch #3 ON for SMA, Ingeteam, Solplanet, SOFAR, Deye, Luxpower and others. Some brands need different settings, so check the latest Dyness inverter compatibility list. The DIP switches sit under a tamper label, and Dyness must authorise opening the cover before you change them.
Cold-climate charging and large banks
Standard charging range is 0 to 55 °C. Charging down to -20 °C needs the optional heating function, so confirm it is fitted if the battery will sit in an unheated space. Banks of more than 12 parallel units need a CAN terminating resistor on the last battery's CAN OUT port.
Recommended inverter settings and sizing
- Max charge (bulk) voltage 57.6 V, absorption 56.5 V, float 56 V.
- Shut-down voltage 48 V, shut-down SOC 5%, restart voltage 52 V.
- Max charge current 200 A and max discharge current 200 A.
- Matching guide: 5 kW inverter with 1 unit, 10 kW with 1 to 2 units, 15 kW with 2 to 3 units.

Frequently asked questions
How much usable energy does the Powerbox G2 provide?
The nominal energy is 10.24 kWh and the usable energy is 9.728 kWh. The recommended depth of discharge is 95%.
Which inverters is it compatible with?
The datasheet lists SMA, Schneider, Victron Energy, Ingeteam, Solis, GoodWe, Growatt, Solplanet, Luxpower and Deye, among others. Communication is by CAN or RS485, and the DIP switch must match the inverter brand. Always check the latest Dyness compatibility list for your exact inverter model before ordering.
How many batteries can I connect together?
Up to 50 units in parallel, giving 512 kWh. The master battery summarises the whole bank and talks to the inverter over CAN or RS485. For banks above 12 units a CAN terminating resistor is needed on the last battery, and the distribution box must be rated well above the maximum load current.
Can it be installed outside or in a cold garage?
It is rated IP65 for indoor or outdoor use, but avoid direct sunlight, wind-exposed spots, conductive dust, corrosive gas and sites close to the sea. Discharging works from -20 °C, but charging below 0 °C needs the optional heating function.
How is it mounted?
Mount it on the wall bracket using the positioning cardboard and four M6 expansion bolts at 9.8 Nm, then hang the unit on the six M8 shoulder screws (11.8 Nm). The wall must be solid brick or cement at least 100 mm thick. Floor installation is also supported. At 96 kg, plan the lift carefully.
What protections does the BMS provide?
The built-in battery management system protects against over-charge, over-discharge, over-current, short circuit and abnormal temperature, with cell balancing, a DC circuit breaker and an explosion-proof valve. The battery sleeps automatically after 72 hours with no load. For long-term storage, recharge it every 6 months to more than 80% of rated capacity.
