Photonic Universe AGM Battery Banks are pre-assembled deep cycle storage systems built from 2V AGM cells connected exclusively in series, rather than the mixed series/parallel wiring needed with 12V battery banks. This design gives each cell an even, balanced charge and discharge rate, resulting in a considerably longer service life and greater usable depth of discharge than banks built from standard 12V batteries. The range spans a 300Ah 12V bank up to a fully-racked 24kWh 48V system, so you can match capacity and voltage to your power system.

Why 2V Cells in Series? Building a bank from 2V cells wired purely in series avoids the complex series/parallel wiring that 12V battery banks require. This keeps every cell charging and discharging at the same rate, giving more stable cycling, longer service life, and deeper usable discharge than an equivalent bank of 12V batteries.
Choosing the Right Bank: The three banks in this range differ in system voltage, total capacity, cell count, and maximum charging current — check the variant table below carefully, as the 48V system also requires the supplied metal racking and is significantly heavier than the 12V options.
Weight & Handling: These banks range from 102kg up to 720kg fully assembled. Plan for a suitably reinforced, ventilated installation location and appropriate lifting equipment or assistance, particularly for the 48V racked system.
Balanced Series-Only Charging
Wiring exclusively in series means every cell sees the same charge and discharge current, avoiding the imbalance that can develop across parallel strings in 12V battery banks.
Deeper Usable Discharge
Thicker metal plates inside the 2V cells allow more energy to be drawn from the bank than an equivalent 12V-battery bank of the same nominal capacity.
Maintenance-Free AGM Cells
Electrolyte fully absorbed into a glass-fibre mat gives sealed, non-spillable, maintenance-free cells with less internal corrosion than flooded batteries.
Instant Connection Hardware
Every bank is supplied with metal plate connectors sized to the specific system, so cells can be linked together without sourcing separate cabling.
Ready-to-Install Racking (48V)
The 48V system includes a sturdy dual-level metal racking unit, arranging all 24 cells for efficient use of floor space and straightforward installation.
Suited to Demanding Applications
Long service life and strong depth-of-discharge performance make these banks well suited to solar and wind energy storage, off-grid households, UPS backup, and telecoms power.

Why use 2V cells instead of standard 12V batteries for a large bank?
2V cells wired purely in series avoid the complex series/parallel wiring needed with 12V batteries, so every cell charges and discharges at an even, balanced rate. This gives the bank a considerably longer service life and lets more usable energy be drawn from the same nominal capacity.
Which bank should I choose for my system?
Match the bank's voltage to your inverter or charge controller's system voltage first (12V or 48V), then choose the capacity that covers your daily energy use. The 48V AGM500AH-24SETR is the largest option at 24kWh and includes metal racking as standard, while the two 12V options (300Ah and 500Ah) suit smaller to mid-sized systems.
What's included with each bank?
Every bank includes the 2V cells, metal plate connectors sized for that specific system, and a detailed user manual. The 48V racked system additionally includes a dual-level metal racking unit and a separate rack installation manual.
How much charging current do I need to supply?
The 300Ah 12V bank has a maximum charging current of 60A, while both the 500Ah 12V bank and the 500Ah 48V system are rated to 100A. Ensure your charge controller, inverter/charger, or mains charger stays within these limits.
How heavy are these banks, and what installation space do I need?
Weights range from 102kg for the smallest 12V bank to 720kg for the fully-racked 48V system. Check the dimensions in the variant table against your available installation space, and plan appropriate lifting and floor-loading arrangements before delivery.
Can I add more cells later to increase capacity?
These banks are supplied as complete, pre-configured systems matched to a specific voltage and capacity. Extending an existing series string isn't generally recommended, as mixing new and used cells in series can lead to charge imbalance — it's best to plan your required capacity upfront.
