The Calmag Magnetic Scale Inhibitor is a full metal inline limescale reducer for the cold water supply, available in 15mm (SI-CALMAG) and 22mm (SI-CALMAG-22) compression versions. A magnet inside the unit changes how the calcium and magnesium particles in hard water behave, so hard limescale is far less likely to form on pipework, heat exchangers, taps and showers.
It needs no electricity, no chemicals and no maintenance, gives whole house protection from a single unit, and is WRAS approved with a maximum working pressure of 12 bar and a maximum flow rate of 1.08 l/sec (14 gpm). Scale that has already formed around taps, sinks and showers begins to soften with regular contact with the treated water.

How the magnetic action works
The magnetic bar induces a single polarity into the water, so calcium and magnesium particles take on the same charge and repel each other instead of clumping into hard scale.
Cold water lines only
Install on the cold water supply, and for best results fit the unit at least 1 metre away from an appliance. Scale inhibitors are not suitable for removing hard scale from kettles.
Installation and regulations
Fit in line with good plumbing practice and the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations. Re-open the supply slowly and check for leaks after fitting.
Key Features
Magnetic Scale Prevention
Uses a magnetic bar to stop limescale particles bonding together, helping keep pipes, heat exchangers and fittings clearer.
No Power, No Chemicals
No electricity, no chemicals and no maintenance. Fit it once and it works continuously with every litre that passes through.
Whole House Protection
One unit on the cold supply helps protect boilers, hot water systems, taps and showers throughout the property.
No Earth Bonding Required
Installation stays simple: no earth bonding is needed, and the unit can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
Full Metal Plated Copper Body
A durable full metal body in plated copper stands up to the pressure rating of 12 bar and temperatures up to 80°C.
Compression Fittings Supplied
Supplied as standard with compression fittings in the matching pipe size, ready to cut in on 15mm or 22mm pipework.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where should the magnetic scale inhibitor be installed?
On the cold water supply, ideally at least 1 metre away from an appliance. One unit on the incoming supply gives whole house protection.
Does it need power, chemicals or earth bonding?
No. It needs no electricity, no chemicals and no maintenance, and no earth bonding.
Will it remove existing limescale?
Scale that has already formed around taps, sinks and showers begins to soften with regular contact with treated water and becomes easier to remove. It is not suitable for removing hard scale from kettles.
Which size do I need, 15mm or 22mm?
Choose the size that matches your supply pipe: SI-CALMAG for 15mm and SI-CALMAG-22 for 22mm. Both share the same 12 bar pressure rating and 1.08 l/sec flow rate.
How do I fit it?
Turn off the supply and drain the relevant pipework. Cut the pipe to suit the unit, push the unit into place so the fittings seat fully, then tighten the compression fittings. Re-open slowly and check for leaks. Measure once, cut, then re-measure allowing for the fittings.
