The Calmag CalLytic Electrolytic Scale Inhibitor is a Part L compliant, full metal inline unit that stops limescale forming in a home water system. It is supplied in 15mm (SI-CALLYTIC-15) and 22mm (SI-CALLYTIC-22) compression versions and is fitted on the cold water supply for whole house protection.
Using electrolytic technology, the unit polarises the water so limescale cannot attach to pipework. It needs no earth bonding, no chemicals and no maintenance, is WRAS approved, and is rated for a maximum working pressure of 12 bar, a maximum temperature of 80°C and a maximum flow rate of 1.08 l/sec (14 gpm).

How the electrolytic action works
Electrolytic scale inhibitors do not soften water. They polarise the water so limescale is unable to attach to pipework, and scale that has already formed around taps, sinks and showers softens with regular contact with treated water.
Cold water lines only
This unit is for the cold water supply. Scale inhibitors are not suitable for removing hard scale from kettles, so consider filtration for drinking and cooking water.
Part L and installation
Part L of the Building Regulations applies in England; Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own equivalents, so check the requirement for your project with Building Control. Fit in line with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations and check for leaks on commissioning.
Key Features
Part L Compliant
Conforms to Part L Building Regulations, helping installers meet the scale protection requirement in hard water areas.
Electrolytic Scale Control
Electrolytic technology stops limescale attaching to pipework, protecting boilers, hot water systems and appliances.
No Earth Bonding Required
No earth bonding is needed, which keeps installation quick and removes an extra step on site.
Maintenance Free
No chemicals, no additives and no maintenance. Once fitted, it protects the whole house continuously.
Full Metal Plated Body
A full metal plated copper body rated to 12 bar and 80°C, built for fixed plumbing installations.
Flexible Mounting
Compression connections in 15mm or 22mm, and the unit can be mounted vertically or horizontally.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CalLytic Part L compliant?
Yes. It conforms to Part L Building Regulations. Part L applies in England, so confirm the requirement for other nations or your specific project with Building Control.
Does it need earth bonding, power or chemicals?
No. It needs no earth bonding, no power and no chemicals, and it is maintenance free.
Can it be fitted on hot water?
No. It should be installed on the cold water supply. Fitting it there protects the whole house, including the hot water system it feeds.
Which size do I need, 15mm or 22mm?
Match the supply pipe: SI-CALLYTIC-15 for 15mm and SI-CALLYTIC-22 for 22mm. Both are rated to 12 bar and 1.08 l/sec.
How do I fit it?
Turn off the supply and drain the relevant pipework, allowing it to cool. Cut the pipe to suit the unit length, then tighten the compression fittings to seal. Re-open the system slowly and check for leaks. Measure once, cut, then re-measure allowing for the fittings.
