AF/ArmaFlex Evo AC coil is a 15 m continuous coil of black, closed-cell elastomeric foam insulation made for the refrigerant pipework of split air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Its closed-cell structure and high water vapour resistance (μ ≥ 10,000) controls condensation on cold suction lines, while the built-in Microban® antimicrobial protection helps limit mould and bacteria growth on the insulation.
Evo is Armacell's safest AF/ArmaFlex yet, with a B(L)-s2,d0 reaction-to-fire classification and Class 0 performance, and it works across a −50 °C to +110 °C service temperature range. Choose from five coil sizes: 6, 10, 12 and 15 mm bore in 9 mm wall, plus 10 mm bore in 13 mm wall, matched to 1/4", 3/8", 1/2" and 5/8" refrigerant pipe.

⚠ Test before you insulate
Complete leak and pressure testing of the refrigerant pipework before the insulation is closed up over joints. Work on refrigerant circuits must be carried out by suitably F-Gas certified engineers.
⚠ Outdoor runs need UV protection
Armacell states that AF/ArmaFlex used outdoors or under UV radiation must be protected with ArmaFinish paint, or a covering such as ArmaClad Arma-Chek, within 3 days of installation. Do not leave bare black foam exposed on external runs.
ℹ Match the insulation to the copper OD
Sizes are named by the pipe they fit: 6 mm for 1/4" copper, 10 mm for 3/8", 12 mm for 1/2" and 15 mm for 5/8". Check the refrigerant pipe sizes in the outdoor unit's installation manual before ordering.
Key features
💧
Condensation control
The closed-cell foam structure and high μ value (≥ 10,000) resist water vapour ingress, so cold suction lines stay dry and insulation performance is maintained.
🦠
Built-in Microban®
Microban® antimicrobial protection is built into the foam to reduce mould and bacteria growth on the insulation.
🔥
Improved fire safety
B(L)-s2,d0 reaction to fire and Class 0 performance. Self-extinguishing, does not drip and does not spread flames, with low smoke development.
🔁
Continuous 15 m length
A continuous coil means fewer joints than 2 m tubes on long pipe runs, so there are fewer places for moisture to find a way in.
🌡️
Wide temperature range
−50 °C to +110 °C service temperature suits both liquid and gas lines in air conditioning and refrigeration pipework.

Frequently asked questions
Which coil size do I need for my split system?
Match the insulation to the copper OD of each refrigerant line. 6 mm suits 1/4" pipe, 10 mm suits 3/8", 12 mm suits 1/2" and 15 mm suits 5/8". The pipe sizes for your system are listed in the outdoor unit's installation manual.
Do I need a separate coil for each refrigerant pipe?
Refrigerant lines are normally insulated separately, so one coil per line is typical. Follow the outdoor unit manufacturer's installation manual for the required insulation on each pipe.
Can I use AF/ArmaFlex Evo outdoors?
Yes, provided it is protected. Armacell states that AF/ArmaFlex used outdoors or under UV radiation should be protected with ArmaFinish paint, or a covering such as ArmaClad Arma-Chek, within 3 days of installation.
What adhesive should I use?
Armacell lists ArmaFlex 525 and ArmaFlex ECO 550 as the certified adhesives for AF/ArmaFlex Evo. Use adhesive at joints, cut ends and fittings, and follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions.
Should I choose 9 mm or 13 mm wall thickness?
Armacell engineers each wall thickness for specific pipe sizes under defined design conditions. Follow the unit manufacturer's guidance or your specification, and choose the 13 mm wall where extra insulation is required.
Should I buy a coil or 2 m tubes?
A coil is the better choice for long continuous runs because it has fewer joints. Tubes suit short runs, repairs and covering fittings.
