The Ariston Vertical Starter (Part No. 3318079) is the boiler-connection adaptor piece required whenever a vertical coaxial flue kit is fitted to an Ariston boiler range. It connects the boiler's exhaust manifold to the vertical flue assembly above, redirecting the flue gases upward through the ceiling and roof. The Ariston Vertical Flue with Black Terminal (Part No. 3318080) is the complete 60/100 mm vertical flue terminal pipe that pairs with the vertical starter — it includes a weatherproof black terminal cap designed to blend in on slate or dark-toned roofing. Both parts use the standard push-fit coaxial connection common across Ariston's HE boiler flue range.

Push-Fit Simplicity
No clamps or sealant required between the starter and the flue kit — the coaxial sections simply push together, speeding up installation and reducing the risk of an incomplete seal.
|
Fixed Terminal Height
The vertical flue kit is manufactured to a fixed usable length, ensuring the terminal always sits at the correct clearance above the roofline once fitted with the appropriate flashing.
|
Coaxial Ø60/100 Design
A single pipe carries fresh air in around the outer wall and expels flue gases through the inner core, keeping the roof penetration to one compact opening.
|
|
Discreet Black Finish
The black terminal cap is weatherproof and UV-stable, holding its colour and finish through years of roof-level sun and rain exposure without fading against dark roofing materials.
|
Flat & Pitched Roof Ready
Works with either a flat roof flashing plate or a flexible base cap flashing for pitched roofs, so the same starter-and-flue combination adapts to most UK domestic roof types.
|
Extendable Run
Where additional height is needed above the starter, a coaxial extension pipe can be inserted between the starter and the flue kit — the flue kit itself should never be cut.

What is the difference between the black terminal (3318080) and the red terminal (3318081) vertical flue kit?
Both kits are mechanically identical. The difference is purely aesthetic — the 3318080 has a black weatherproof terminal cap, while the 3318081 has a red cap. Black terminals are often preferred on slate or dark-toned roofing for a discreet finish; red is sometimes chosen for visibility on tiled roofs. There is no functional performance difference between the two.
Can the vertical flue kit be used on flat roofs?
Yes. The vertical flue kit is suitable for both flat roofs and pitched roofs. A flat roof flashing plate (Part No. 3318011) is required for flat roofs. For pitched roofs, flexible base cap flashings are available in two colour options — 3318009 (Black, 12–40°) and 3318010 (Red, 12–40°). These are sold separately and must be ordered in addition to the flue kit and starter.
Do I need to cut the vertical flue kit to length?
Do not cut the vertical flue kit. The terminal height above the roof line is fixed to ensure correct clearance above the flashing. Usable length variation is accommodated by the kit's design. To increase total run height, use a coaxial extension pipe between the vertical starter and the flue kit.
What diameter roof hole is required?
A 130 mm diameter hole should be cut through the ceiling and/or roof to accommodate the Ø60/100 coaxial vertical flue assembly. Mark the centre position on the ceiling based on the distance from the boiler's back wall to the centre of the flue outlet, as shown in the installation manual dimensions diagram.
