The Adey MC1+ Protector 500ml (MC1P) is a high-performance corrosion and scale inhibitor developed and tested in Adey’s own UKAS-accredited UK laboratories. It is formulated to stop magnetite and other deposits forming, cutting sludge, debris build-up and component wear in sealed and open-vented central heating systems.
One 500ml bottle treats up to 125 litres of system water or 15 single panel radiators. MC1+ protects all metals and alloys found in heating systems, including mild steel, copper and aluminium, is non-hazardous, non-toxic and biodegradable, and can be dosed directly through a MagnaClean filter, the filling loop, a radiator or the F&E tank. Annual level checks and top-ups keep protection in line with BS 7593.

Check and top up every year
Check the inhibitor level at every annual service and after any maintenance involving a partial or full drain-down. Confirm concentration with the MC1+ Quick Test Kit and top up as required.
Compatibility notes
MC1+ is not suitable for single feed indirect (prismatic) cylinders. Do not add it to systems containing nitrites, and use on galvanised steel is not recommended (if present, check levels regularly and top up). If you are unsure which chemical is already in the system, flush it before adding the recommended dose.
Handling and storage
Classified as non-hazardous, but as with all domestic chemicals avoid contact with eyes and skin and keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, well-ventilated area, tightly closed and in the original packaging only.
Key features
Corrosion and scale protection
Inhibits corrosion of all metals and alloys commonly found in heating systems, including mild steel, copper and aluminium, and prevents limescale deposition.
Treats 125 litres
500ml treats up to 125 litres or 15 single panel radiators, giving more headroom than a standard 100 litre inhibitor against partial system drain-down.
Stops black sludge and cold spots
Prevents the generation of black sludge, helps avoid cold spots in radiators and maintains room temperature comfort levels.
Easy dosing options
Dose through an installed MagnaClean filter, via the filling loop or a radiator using a suitable injector, or via the F&E tank on open-vented systems.
Efficiency and lower call-outs
Helps maintain system efficiency and reduce fuel bills while reducing component failure and maintenance call-out costs.
Environmentally considered
Non-hazardous, non-toxic and biodegradable, with no phosphates, EDTA or nitrates/nitrites, and suitable for all water types.

Frequently asked questions
How much MC1+ do I need?
One 500ml bottle treats up to 125 litres or 15 single panel radiators. Larger systems need additional bottles in proportion to the total system volume.
How do I add MC1+ to the system?
Introduce it through an installed MagnaClean filter, via the filling loop or a radiator using a suitable injector, or via the F&E tank. If you are unsure what chemical is already in the system, flush it first.
How often should I check or top up the inhibitor?
Check levels at the annual system service and after any work that needs a full or partial drain-down. The MC1+ Quick Test Kit confirms the concentration so you can top up where needed.
Is MC1+ safe for aluminium and mixed-metal systems?
Yes. It is formulated to inhibit corrosion of mild steel, copper, aluminium and their alloys and is compatible with rubbers and other non-metallic components. Use on galvanised steel is not recommended.
Can I use it in a single feed indirect cylinder?
No. MC1+ is not suitable for single feed indirect (prismatic) cylinders where potable water treatment is required, and it should not be added to systems containing nitrites.
Is MC1+ hazardous?
It is classified as non-hazardous, non-toxic and biodegradable. Standard care still applies: avoid eye and skin contact, keep out of reach of children and store in the original container.
