The Quality Heating QH Dual 50 Litre Electric Water Heater is a compact, wall-mounted hot water storage unit built for properties without a mains gas supply. Part of the premium Extra Life series, it combines a zirconium-enamel lined vessel, a copper heating element, and a generous 40 mm foam insulation jacket — delivering efficient, reliable hot water with minimal heat loss and outstanding longevity.
With three selectable power settings (800W, 1,200W, or 2,000W), a digital display, and a fully adjustable thermostat, this unit gives homeowners and tradespeople complete control over running costs and water temperature. Rated Energy Class B, it's an ideal choice for all-electric new builds, retrofit projects, flats, studios, and any location where a dependable, gas-free hot water solution is needed.

Product Description
The QH Dual 50L has a gross capacity of 50 litres. When heated to 60–65°C (as recommended for Legionella control) and blended down to a usable 37°C, the cylinder delivers approximately 139 litres of usable hot water per cycle — more than sufficient for one to two occupants covering both bathroom and kitchen use.
The unit mounts vertically to a load-bearing wall using the supplied bracket. The 1.5-metre mains lead can be used with a fused connection unit, or the plug removed for direct hardwired connection to a 13A fused circuit — giving installers flexibility on the electrical termination. The included pressure relief valve (PRV) must be plumbed to a safe discharge point as part of the installation.
The digital display and illuminated on/off switch make operation straightforward for end users. Temperature is fully adjustable via the built-in thermostat, and the six-level safety system ensures the unit always operates within safe parameters. The anode condition indicator provides a visual and audible alarm, prompting timely servicing and helping to extend vessel life well beyond standard cylinders.
The inner vessel's zirconium-enamel coating offers superior resistance to the pH variations found in UK mains water — particularly important in hard-water regions such as the South East, Midlands, and East Anglia. Combined with the magnesium sacrificial anode, this gives the cylinder robust corrosion protection across its full service life.

Installation & Trade Notes
This unit is designed for use with a vented (low-pressure) cold water supply. The included pressure relief valve (PRV) must be fitted and plumbed to a safe, visible, frost-free termination point in compliance with the Water Regulations and Building Regulations Part G. Do not connect to a sealed (pressurised) system without appropriate pressure-limiting provisions.
Electrical work should be carried out by a Part P-registered electrician or competent person as defined under UK Building Regulations. The unit can be connected via a 13A fused spur, or the plug removed for permanent hardwired connection. The supply circuit must be protected by an appropriately rated RCD.
Water connections are made via ¾" BSP threads — standard UK plumbing. A Pentec UBIC or equivalent inlet combination valve is recommended and available separately. Always flush the vessel before commissioning and set the thermostat to a minimum of 60°C to comply with HTM 04-01 guidance on Legionella prevention.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much usable hot water does a 50-litre cylinder actually provide?
When heated to 65°C and blended to a comfortable 37°C shower temperature, the cylinder yields roughly 139 litres of usable hot water — ample for one to two people covering morning showers and kitchen use.
Can I connect it to my solar PV system?
Yes. Pair it with a solar diverter such as the myenergi Eddi, Immersun, or similar to direct surplus solar generation into the cylinder for free hot water. The selectable 800W / 1,200W power settings help match demand to available solar output at any time of day.
Is the pressure relief valve (PRV) included?
Yes — a PRV (safety valve) is supplied as standard and must be fitted and plumbed to a safe discharge point as part of the installation. This is a legal requirement under the Water Regulations.
Can it be hardwired rather than plug-in?
Yes. The 1.5 m supply cable comes fitted with a 13A plug for flexibility, but the plug can be removed so the cable connects directly to a fused connection unit or consumer unit. All electrical work must be carried out by a competent person and notified under Building Regulations Part P where required.
What does the anode condition alarm do?
The magnesium sacrificial anode protects the inner vessel from corrosion. When it becomes depleted, the unit triggers a visual and audible alert. Replacing the anode promptly extends the working life of the cylinder significantly — a key advantage of the Extra Life series design.
Is this unit suitable for Economy 7 or off-peak tariffs?
Absolutely. Set the unit to heat overnight using the adjustable thermostat and a time-switch or smart plug, taking full advantage of cheaper overnight electricity rates. The 800W setting is particularly economical for slow overnight heating.
