The SPIRT160 is a 160mm equal tee piece for galvanised spiral ducting, providing a three-way branch connection in a 160mm metal duct system. All three ports are 160mm and male, allowing the fitting to slip directly into the female ends of SPIR160 duct lengths. Manufactured from galvanised steel to DW144 specification, the equal tee is the key fitting for branching a main duct run into two directions, or combining two branches into one — commonly used in MVHR, MEV, and general extract distribution systems.

Airflow Balancing: When branching a duct run with an equal tee, airflow divides between the two branch legs according to their relative resistance. Account for this in your system design, and use balancing dampers at branch terminals if precise flow distribution is required.
Connecting to Duct Lengths: Each 160mm port on the SPIRT160 is male and slips directly into the female end of a SPIR160 duct length — no separate connector is needed at this joint. Secure with self-drilling screws or rivets and seal as required.

Can the equal tee be used to combine two duct runs into one?
Yes. The SPIRT160 is symmetrical and can function as either a 1-into-2 splitter or a 2-into-1 collector, depending on which direction air flows through the system.
Does the tee come with connectors for the duct joints?
No — each port is male and inserts directly into the female end of a SPIR160 duct length, so no separate connector is required at a tee-to-duct joint. Connectors (SPIRC160) are only needed for duct-to-duct (female-to-female) joints.
How is the joint secured and sealed?
Once the male port is inserted into the female duct end, secure with self-drilling screws or pop rivets through the overlap, then seal with foil tape or duct sealant if a higher airtightness class is required.
Is there a reducing tee available if my branch is a different diameter?
The SPIRT160 is an equal tee — all three ports are 160mm. If your branch run needs to step down to a smaller diameter, fit a separate reducer (e.g. VEL12/0016 for 160mm to 150mm) on the branch port after the tee.
