Single-core Kuka H1Z2Z2-K red solar PV DC cable for connecting PV modules to each other and to the inverter or DC main cable. Built from class 5 flexible tinned copper with electron-beam cross-linked XLPO insulation and sheath, it is TÜV approved to EN 50618 and rated for 1500V DC systems. The red sheath makes positive runs easy to identify on site, and the cable is supplied on 100m and 500m reels in 4mm², 6mm² and 10mm² cross-sections.
The cable is halogen free, low smoke and flame retardant, so it does not give off halogen-based toxic emissions in a fire, and it is UV, ozone and weather resistant for long outdoor runs on roofs and ground-mount arrays. Choose your cross-section and reel length from the options on this page.

Safety and compliance
PV DC circuits stay live whenever the modules are exposed to light. Installation, cable sizing and protection must be carried out by a competent person in line with BS 7671 and the system design. Always check voltage drop and apply the correct installation-condition derating for your cable route.
Matching connectors
Use PV connectors rated for the cable cross-section and outer diameter you select, and keep the same connector type and manufacturer on both halves of each mated pair.

Frequently asked questions
Which cross-section should I choose?
It depends on string current, run length, installation conditions and the voltage drop allowed in your design. 4mm² is the common string cable, while 6mm² and 10mm² suit longer runs or lower voltage drop. Confirm the size with your PV design and BS 7671 calculations.
What is the difference between the 100m and 500m reels?
The cable is identical. Only the length supplied differs, so pick the reel that best matches the total cable you need for the job.
What does the red sheath mean?
Red is the conventional colour used to identify the positive DC conductor, with black used for negative. Order red and black cable to suit your string layout.
Is it suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The cable is UV, ozone and weather resistant and is made for outdoor PV installations. Keep it supported and clear of sharp edges and standing water along the route.
What bending radius should I allow?
Allow at least 4 × the overall diameter for fixed installation and 5 × the overall diameter where the cable flexes.
Can it be buried directly?
The datasheets give ratings for installation in conduit, pipe or duct but do not cover direct burial. For buried runs, install the cable inside suitable ducting.
