The Vaillant ecoTEC plus 48 kW and 64 kW are wall-hung condensing system boilers for light commercial and larger domestic projects that need high output from a compact footprint. At 720 mm high and 440 mm wide, the 48 kW weighs just 38 kg (the 64 kW is 48 kg), and the front and side panels both remove for easier access in tight plant rooms and cupboards.
Both models use a high-efficiency stainless steel heat exchanger, a built-in ErP-rated pump and a gunmetal air separator, with 98.2% net efficiency at 80/60°C and NOx class 6 emissions (30.8 mg/kWh on the 48 kW, 29.1 mg/kWh on the 64 kW). Installed with a class VI control such as the VRC 700 or sensoCOMFORT, the boilers reach ErP A+.
For larger demand, the boilers cascade on a wall or on Vaillant cascade rig sets (inline or back-to-back, up to four boilers per rig set), and both can be run on LPG for off-gas sites. Each boiler ships with a gas isolation valve, flow and return isolation valves and a pressure relief valve.

Installation and safety
Must be installed by a Gas Safe registered engineer in line with the Vaillant instructions and the Gas Safe (Installation and Use) Regulations. Flue terminations for installations up to 70 kW net must comply with BS 5440-1. Where boilers in cascade exceed 70 kW net output, the flue must be designed to BS 6644 and IGEM/UP/10 and Vaillant requires system separation with a plate heat exchanger. System water must be clean and treated with inhibitor: omissions can cause failures that are not covered by the guarantee.
Supplied as a boiler only
The expansion vessel is not supplied, so size one for the system volume. The 80/125 mm concentric flue (for example horizontal kit 303209 or vertical terminal 303200), controls and any low-loss header or plate heat exchanger are ordered separately. The A+ rating needs a class VI control such as the VRC 700 or sensoCOMFORT.

Key Features
Compact and Lightweight
Just 720 × 440 mm on the wall and 38 kg for the 48 kW, with removable front and side panels so servicing is easier in restricted spaces.
Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger
A highly efficient stainless steel heat exchanger keeps running costs down, using Vaillant's familiar, robust design. Net efficiency is 98.2% at 80/60°C and 109.5% at 30% load (40/30°C).
Built-In High-Efficiency Pump
The in-built ErP pump (EEI ≥ 0.23) matches the boiler's output and keeps the installation compact. Pump head is adjustable from 100 to 400 mbar.
Rain Ingress Protection
An internal ducted rain collector stops water from the flue system depositing in the casing, helping protect the internal electronics. A gunmetal air separator removes micro-air bubbles from the water.
Cascade Ready
Combine boilers on a wall or Vaillant rig system to reach higher outputs in limited space. Each boiler in cascade needs a flue non-return valve, and the boilers operate up to 3.5 bar.
Low Emissions and 5-Year Guarantee
Low NOx burner system (NOx class 6) minimises environmental impact. A 5-year guarantee is included as standard, subject to conditions and registration within 30 days, with a further 5 years available through Vaillant Advance.
Suitable For
Light Commercial Premises

Larger Domestic Projects
Larger domestic projects where high heat demand meets limited siting space.
Cascade Plant Rooms
Modular plant rooms built from several wall-hung boilers on a Vaillant rig for resilience and flexible output.
Hybrid Systems
Compatible with Vaillant aroTHERM heat pumps to create a hybrid heating system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a system boiler, and does it supply hot water?
It is a heating-only system boiler with the pump and air separator built in. Hot water comes from a separate hot water cylinder. The expansion vessel is not supplied, so allow for one sized to the system volume.
What flue does it use and how long can it be?
Both models take an 80/125 mm concentric flue. Maximum length is 18 m horizontal and 21 m vertical for the 48 kW, and 15 m horizontal and 18 m vertical for the 64 kW. Lengths reduce by 2.5 m for each additional 87° elbow and 1.0 m for each 45° elbow. Use Vaillant's own flue components to keep the certification valid.
Can I install more than one in cascade?
Yes. Cascade them on a wall or on a Vaillant rig set. Every boiler in a cascade needs a flue gas non-return valve (80/80 mm for third-party flues, or an 80/110 mm adapter valve for Vaillant cascade flues). Where the total net output exceeds 70 kW, a plate heat exchanger must be fitted and the flue designed to IGEM/UP/10 and BS 6644.
Can I use a low-loss header?
Vaillant offers the WH40, WH40/2 and WH95 low-loss headers for these boilers. They are suitable only for new, clean systems up to 70 kW net input with correctly inhibited water, and a dirt filter in the return is highly recommended. Where system cleanliness cannot be guaranteed, use a plate heat exchanger instead.
Can it run on LPG?
Yes, both boilers are approved for LPG (G31 at 37 mbar). Vaillant's literature differs on whether a conversion kit is needed, so confirm the current requirement with Vaillant before ordering for an off-gas site.
What guarantee does it have?
A 5-year guarantee comes as standard, subject to conditions and registration within 30 days. A further 5 years can be purchased through Vaillant Advance, making 10 years in total. Vaillant rigs and accessories carry 2 years.
