The Vaillant aroTHERM pro 7kW (VWL 75/7.1 A 230V) is a monobloc air-to-water heat pump from Vaillant's newest, most space-saving range, purpose-built for sites where the outdoor unit footprint is at a premium. It uses the natural refrigerant R290 and Vaillant's new Flexible Space Function safety concept to reduce the required protective clearance zone, opening up installation positions that were previously off-limits for R290 monobloc heat pumps.
Suitable for both new build and retrofit projects, the aroTHERM pro 7kW delivers flow temperatures up to 70°C without a backup electric heater, making it equally at home on an underfloor heating system or an existing radiator circuit.

Important Safety Information: Renewables Installer Competency Required
Installation, commissioning, and servicing must be carried out by a suitably qualified and MCS-registered heat pump installer in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions and applicable Building Regulations. Electrical connection work must comply with BS 7671 (Part P) requirements.
Please Note: Different Product Family to aroTHERM Plus
The aroTHERM pro is a distinct, newer single-fan range from the aroTHERM plus (twin-fan) line. The two are not interchangeable model-for-model — always confirm the exact model code and hydraulic interface against your system design before ordering, as accessories, footprints and clearance requirements differ between ranges.
Flexible Space Function
Vaillant's new safety concept for R290 monobloc units shrinks the required protective zone around the outdoor unit, so it can sit closer to windows, doors, cellar light wells and sockets than earlier R290 heat pumps allowed. This is the single biggest siting advantage of the aroTHERM pro range.
Single Fan Monobloc Design
Unlike the twin-fan aroTHERM plus range, every aroTHERM pro output size uses one EC axial fan. This keeps the footprint down to roughly 0.5m² and makes the unit one of the most compact air source heat pumps on the market, ideal where garden or side-return space is tight.
No F-Gas Certification Required
As a factory-charged monobloc using the natural refrigerant R290, installers do not need F-Gas refrigerant handling certification to fit the aroTHERM pro — only the standard renewables competency scheme membership applicable to heat pump installation.
High Flow Temperatures to 70°C
The aroTHERM pro can deliver flow temperatures up to 70°C in heat pump mode without a backup electric heater, making it a genuine drop-in replacement for existing radiator systems in retrofit projects, not just underfloor heating in new builds.
Natural R290 Refrigerant
R290 propane refrigerant carries a GWP of just 0.02, dramatically lower than legacy synthetic refrigerants. It also delivers strong efficiency at low ambient temperatures, supporting reliable operation down to -25°C outdoor air temperature.
Up to A+++ ErP Efficiency
The range is rated up to A+++ for space heating (D to A+++ across the range), with the 5kW model achieving a SCOP of 5.0 at A7/W35 — supporting eligibility for renewable heating incentives such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.

Good to Know: Pairing With a Hydraulic Interface
The aroTHERM pro is designed to work with Vaillant's uniTOWER integrated hydraulic tower (including built-in hot water cylinder) or a wall-mounted hydraulic station for system separation, glycol protection and connection to the heating circuit. Confirm the correct hydraulic interface for your project's hot water demand and cylinder requirements.
Do I need F-Gas certification to install the aroTHERM pro?
No. The aroTHERM pro is a factory-charged monobloc unit using R290 refrigerant, so no F-Gas certification is required for installation — you will still need the appropriate MCS/renewables installer registration.
Is the aroTHERM pro the same as the aroTHERM plus V2?
No — they are separate product families. The aroTHERM pro is a newer, more compact single-fan monobloc range (VWL X/7.1 A) designed for space-constrained sites, while the aroTHERM plus is Vaillant's twin-fan monobloc range (VWL X/6 A) with a wider capacity spread. Both use R290 refrigerant and share compatible uniSTOR/uniTOWER cylinders, but they are different generations of hardware with different footprints and fan configurations.
What's the minimum clearance around the outdoor unit?
Vaillant's Flexible Space Function reduces the standard protective zone versus earlier R290 monobloc heat pumps, allowing tighter siting next to windows, doors and cellar light wells. Exact clearance distances are set out in the manufacturer's installation instructions and depend on the specific model and site layout.
Can the aroTHERM pro heat an existing radiator system?
Yes. With flow temperatures of up to 70°C without a backup heater, the aroTHERM pro is suitable for retrofit projects with existing radiators as well as new build underfloor heating systems.
What refrigerant does the aroTHERM pro use?
The aroTHERM pro uses R290 (propane), a natural refrigerant with a global warming potential of just 0.02, factory-charged into the monobloc outdoor unit.
