The ThermoSphere Dual Control Thermostat in white (DC-W-01) is a dual-relay programmable thermostat that runs your electric underfloor heating and a second appliance, such as an electric heated towel rail, towel bars or a mirror demister, from a single wall-mounted unit. A 16A relay switches the underfloor heating (up to 3,600W) and a separate 5A relay switches the appliance (up to 1,125W), each with its own schedule, for a combined load of up to 20A (4,600W).
Energy-saving features include adaptive start, which learns how long your floor takes to warm up, and open window detection, which switches the heating off after a sudden temperature drop. The 4.3 inch display offers eight background colours in landscape or portrait, and the thermostat supports floor, ambient or ambient with floor limit sensing. It works with NTC floor probes rated 6.8kΩ, 10kΩ, 12kΩ, 15kΩ and 33kΩ (at 25°C), so it can replace many existing underfloor heating thermostats and reuse the installed floor probe.

Electrical safety
This thermostat is part of a high voltage mains circuit. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in line with BS 7671 and Part P, on an RCD protected circuit, with the mains power isolated before work begins. The thermostat is IP30 rated, so it must be fitted outside any wet zones.
Switch on the features you want after installation
Adaptive start and open window detection are off by default, and the appliance (rail) control is also off by default. Enable them in the Advanced settings menu during commissioning.
Key Features
Two Circuits, One Thermostat
A 16A relay for electric underfloor heating and a 5A relay for a towel rail or mirror demister give you independent control of both from one unit, saving wall space and a second control.
Flexible Scheduling
Choose from 7 days the same, 7 days separate, 6 + 1, 5 + 2 or Off. Each day offers 6 heating events, which most people treat as three on and off cycles, and the underfloor schedule can be copied across to the appliance.
Adaptive Start
Learns how long your floor takes to heat up and brings the heating on early enough to reach the target temperature at the scheduled time. It starts with a 60 minute preheat and refines it over about 7 days.
Open Window Detection
Detects a sudden drop in room temperature and switches the heating off to avoid wasted energy. Detection time (2 to 30 minutes), temperature drop limit (2, 3 or 4°C) and restart delay (10 to 60 minutes) are all adjustable.
Floor, Ambient or Limit Sensing
Built-in ambient sensor plus an external floor probe. Choose floor, ambient or ambient with floor limit, which controls on room temperature but cuts out if the floor gets too hot.
Customisable 4.3 Inch Display
Install in landscape or portrait, choose from eight background colours to suit the room, and set the backlight timer and minimum brightness. Menu languages: English, French and German.
Heating Modes and Appliance Control
The thermostat offers Schedule, Comfort (typically 22 to 27°C), Eco (typically 16 to 18°C), Manual and Holiday modes. Holiday mode holds a low frost protection temperature of around 5 to 10°C while you are away. Comfort and Eco can be held until changed, boosted for 1, 2 or 4 hours, or run until the next scheduled event.
The second output can be set to On, Schedule or an appliance boost of 1, 2 or 4 hours that then returns to the appliance schedule. This makes it simple to have the towel rail warm when the floor heats up and switch off again automatically.
The appliance output is time controlled only
The 5A appliance relay has no temperature sensor and no temperature setting. It follows On, Schedule or Boost. Check that the towel rail, towel bar or demister is rated within 5A (1,125W), and that the underfloor heating load does not exceed 16A (3,600W) or the 20A (4,600W) combined limit.
Installation Notes
Fit the thermostat 1.2 to 1.5m above the floor on an interior wall, in an open area away from drafts and heat sources. It needs a 45mm deep back box (the unit is 48mm deep, with 31mm sitting in the wall). The floor probe should be laid in a clear, representative area of the floor, and floor sensing mode is recommended wherever possible.
The thermostat can be mounted up to 50m from the underfloor heating it controls when the floor sensor is used, and both the cold tails and the floor sensor probe can be extended up to 50m. The floor sensor is not polarity sensitive.
