The Solis S2-WL-ST Data Logging Stick (Wi-Fi & LAN, 4-Pin) is a 2-in-1 monitoring datalogger combining 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet (LAN) in a single unit. It plugs directly into the 4-pin COM port of any compatible Solis inverter and connects to SolisCloud via whichever connection is available — Wi-Fi or a standard Ethernet cable. Data uploads every 5 minutes for real-time performance tracking, fault alerts and remote system management via the SolisCloud app (iOS and Android). The wired LAN port also supports Modbus TCP, enabling direct local integration with Home Assistant, BMS systems and energy management platforms. Up to 10 Solis inverters can be chained via RS485 and monitored through a single S2-WL-ST. Bluetooth enables local configuration and one-key RS485 address assignment directly from the app. Three LED indicators (NET, COM, PWR) give instant on-site status. IP65. Dimensions: 125 × 34 × 49 mm, 103 g. 2-year warranty. Compatible with all Solis inverters with a 4-pin COM port (4G, 5G and S5 series — not S6).

ℹ 4-Pin COM port — Solis 4G, 5G and S5 series only: The S2-WL-ST (4-Pin) fits the 4-pin COM port on Solis 4G, 5G and S5 series inverters. The newer S6 series uses a USB-type port and requires the USB-connector version. A 4-pin-to-USB adapter is available separately. Check the Solis Datalogger Compatibility Guide at solis-service.solisinverters.com for your specific model before ordering.
⚠ Wi-Fi: 2.4 GHz only — does not support 5 GHz: If your router uses band steering (combined 2.4/5 GHz SSID), you may need to separate the bands in your router settings, or simply use the LAN port instead — no Wi-Fi password needed at all. If 5 GHz or dual-band support is the priority, consider the Solis S5-WiFi-ST-4Pin.

Key Features
Wi-Fi or LAN — Two Connection Paths in One Dongle
The S2-WL-ST provides both a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) radio and a wired RJ45 Ethernet port. Use the LAN port when the inverter is near a router or switch for maximum stability with no router passwords to manage. Wi-Fi is available when running a cable is impractical. One SKU covers both scenarios.

Wired LAN — Stable, Interference-Free, No Wi-Fi Required
A wired Ethernet connection is immune to 2.4 GHz congestion, signal attenuation through walls and loft insulation, router channel changes, and band-steering failures. For inverters in basements, garages, outbuildings or metal enclosures, a Cat5e run to the nearest switch is the most reliable solution. The LAN port also unlocks Modbus TCP capability.
Zero RF interferenceNo password managementModbus TCP via LAN
Modbus TCP via LAN — Home Assistant and Local BMS Integration
When connected via Ethernet, the S2-WL-ST exposes a Modbus TCP interface on port 502. This allows Home Assistant (SolaX Modbus integration or similar), energy management systems and building automation controllers to read inverter data directly over the local network. Access the built-in web interface at 10.10.100.254 (username: admin) to set a static IP for reliable polling. Note: an active third-party Modbus TCP connection will disconnect SolisCloud — parallel operation requires a separate RS485-to-Ethernet adapter.

One-Key RS485 Address Assignment — Fast Multi-Inverter Commissioning
When setting up multiple inverters via RS485 daisy-chain, each unit needs a unique address. The S2-WL-ST’s one-key address assignment automatically scans the RS485 bus via the SolisCloud app (Bluetooth) and assigns sequential addresses to all connected inverters — no manual entry on each display required. Significantly faster on systems with three or more inverters.

Bluetooth — Local Config, Firmware Updates, No AP Mode
Bluetooth allows the SolisCloud app to connect directly to the S2-WL-ST for: entering Wi-Fi credentials, checking device status, and over-the-air firmware updates. No AP mode setup required — no need to disconnect your phone from its own Wi-Fi.
NET shows internet/server connection status. COM shows RS485 inverter communication status. PWR shows power/hardware status. Each LED can be flashing (active/connecting), solid (ok) or off. The three-way split lets an installer identify whether a monitoring failure is server-side (NET), inverter-side (COM) or hardware (PWR) without opening the app.

Reset Button — Instant Data Push During Commissioning
Short press: triggers an immediate upload to SolisCloud — confirms the connection is live without waiting 5 minutes. Long press (hold until all LEDs flash): factory reset.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the S2-WL-ST and the S5-WiFi-ST-4Pin?
Both are Solis 4-pin dataloggers for the same inverter range. The S2-WL-ST adds a wired LAN port and supports Modbus TCP for Home Assistant / BMS integration, but its Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz only. The S5-WiFi-ST-4Pin supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi (solving band-steering issues on modern routers) and uses newer BLE 5.0, but has no LAN port and no Modbus TCP. Choose S2-WL-ST for wired stability or local Modbus integration. Choose S5 when dual-band Wi-Fi is the priority.
Can I use LAN and Wi-Fi at the same time?
No — the S2-WL-ST uses one connection at a time. The wired LAN takes priority when a cable is inserted. Wi-Fi is used when no cable is present.
How do I use Modbus TCP with Home Assistant?
Connect the S2-WL-ST via Ethernet to your router. Find the logger’s IP on SolisCloud (logger details page), or set a static IP by browsing to 10.10.100.254 (username: admin, set password on first login). Use Modbus TCP port 502 in your Home Assistant integration. Important: the S2-WL-ST accepts only one active Modbus TCP connection — a third-party client polling it will disconnect SolisCloud. For parallel cloud + local operation, a separate RS485-to-Ethernet adapter (e.g. Waveshare RS485-to-PoE ETH) connected in parallel to the inverter RS485 port is the recommended approach.
Which Solis inverters are compatible?
All Solis inverters with a 4-pin COM port: 4G, 5G and S5 series. The S6 series uses a USB-type port and requires the USB version or an adapter. Check the Solis Datalogger Compatibility Guide at solis-service.solisinverters.com.
How do I assign RS485 addresses to multiple inverters?
Daisy-chain the inverters via RS485 cable as per the inverter manual. Power on the system with the S2-WL-ST installed. Use the one-key address assignment function via the SolisCloud app (Bluetooth) to automatically scan the bus and assign sequential addresses (1–10) to all connected inverters — no manual entry on each inverter display.
