Description

The Solis Data Logging Device RF Kit and RF Stick (SOL-RF-LINK) is Solis' radio-frequency alternative to a standard Wi-Fi or LAN data logger, giving installers a quick, wireless way to connect a Solis inverter to SolisCloud without running network cabling to the inverter itself.

The kit is supplied as two parts that work together: the RF Stick (terminal), which plugs directly into the inverter's communication port, and the RF Gateway (data logger), which connects to the home router by Ethernet cable. The two units pair over radio frequency rather than Wi-Fi, so there is no router password or network configuration to enter on the inverter side — the gateway simply talks to the stick automatically.

This makes the RF Link especially useful where the inverter is out of Wi-Fi range of the router, or for fast commissioning on residential installs: if a customer later changes their broadband router, the installer (or customer) just unplugs the RF Gateway from the old router and plugs it into the new one — the inverter connection re-establishes automatically with no reconfiguration required.

Why Choose RF Over Wi-Fi

Because the RF Gateway and RF Stick communicate over radio rather than Wi-Fi, the pairing survives router changes automatically — there's no need to re-enter network credentials at the inverter when broadband hardware is swapped.

Installation Note

Installation and commissioning should be carried out by a qualified installer in accordance with the inverter manufacturer's instructions and local electrical regulations. The RF Stick connects directly to the inverter's communication port — always isolate the inverter as instructed in the manufacturer's manual before fitting or removing accessories.

What does the Solis RF Kit and RF Stick actually do?

It provides a wireless alternative to a standard Solis Wi-Fi or LAN data logger. The RF Stick plugs into the inverter and sends data by radio frequency to the RF Gateway, which is wired to the home router by Ethernet and forwards data to SolisCloud over the internet.

Do I need to configure Wi-Fi settings on the inverter?

No. Because the Stick and Gateway communicate over a dedicated RF link rather than the home Wi-Fi network, there's no router password to enter at the inverter. The Gateway handles the internet connection via its Ethernet cable to the router.

How many inverters can one RF Gateway support?

What happens if I change my broadband router?

Simply unplug the RF Gateway from the old router and plug it into the new one. The RF pairing with the Stick is unaffected, so the system reconnects automatically with no further setup.

Which RF Stick connector do I need — 4-Pin or USB?

This depends on the communication port fitted to the specific Solis inverter model being commissioned. Check the inverter's port type before ordering, as the 4-Pin and USB variants are not interchangeable.

Can the RF Stick and Gateway be configured remotely?

Initial setup and debugging can be carried out via the Solis app using Bluetooth nearby connection, and ongoing configuration is managed through the App/Web interface once connected to SolisCloud.
