SolaX X1 Single Phase String Inverter Range

Description

The SolaX X1-Boost G4 is a compact single-phase string inverter for residential solar PV. It is supplied here in 3.68 kW and 6.0 kW ratings, giving you a right-sized, grid-tied inverter for smaller and larger domestic arrays.

With 200% DC oversizing, 16 A per MPPT input, a low 50 V start-up voltage and a wide 40–560 V MPPT range, it starts earlier and works later each day. It reaches 98% maximum efficiency, weighs just 11 kg and runs almost silently with natural cooling at 25 dB.

Protection is IP66 rated, with an in-built export control function, I-V curve diagnosis and optional Type II SPD, DC AFCI and external rapid shutdown support. It is adaptable to home EV chargers and heat pumps.

Installation and grid connection: Must be installed by a qualified, competent person in line with BS 7671 and the manufacturer's manual. The 3.68 kW variant (16 A) is notified under G98, while the 6.0 kW variant (26.1 A) needs a G99 application before installation.

Naming note: The 3.68 kW variant is SolaX model X1-BOOST-3.6K-G4, with a rated output of 3,680 W. Its maximum apparent power is 4,048 VA, limited to 3,680 VA for G98 / G99.

Optional extras: Type II SPD, DC AFCI, AC auxiliary power supply, DC switch and the monitoring dongle (Pocket WiFi, LAN or 4G) are listed as optional, and the meter / CT is not included in the package. Confirm the options you need when ordering.

On-grid string inverter: The X1-Boost G4 is an on-grid inverter with no battery input. For battery storage, choose a hybrid inverter.

Which ratings are available?

The X1-Boost G4 is supplied here in 3.68 kW and 6.0 kW. Both use two MPPT trackers with one string each, so you can split an array across two roof faces.

How much solar can I connect?

The inverter supports up to 200% PV oversizing, with a maximum PV array power of 7,200 Wp on the 3.68 kW and 12,000 Wp on the 6.0 kW. Each input is rated 16 A, with a 40–560 V MPPT range.

Do I need DNO approval in the UK?

Yes. The 3.68 kW variant (16 A) is notified under G98. The 6.0 kW variant (26.1 A) exceeds 16 A and needs a G99 application before installation. The inverter is certified to both G98 and G99.

Can it limit export to the grid?

Yes. It has an in-built export control function. An external meter or CT is optional and is not included in the package, so order it separately if your export limit requires one.

Can I add a battery?

The X1-Boost G4 is an on-grid string inverter and has no battery input. If you want battery storage on the same system, choose a hybrid inverter such as the X1 Hybrid G4.
