The SolaX Smart EV Charger G2 (22kW, three-phase, tethered, model X3-HAC-22K) is the flagship model in SolaX's second-generation smart charger range, designed for homes and light commercial sites with a three-phase electrical supply. It delivers up to 22kW of charging power and automatically switches between one and three-phase operation to match the connected vehicle, so a single unit suits both single-phase and three-phase capable EVs.
Supplied with a 6.5m tethered Type 2 (IEC 62196) cable, the charger integrates with new or existing PV systems to enable 100% green energy charging, and supports dynamic load balancing to keep the property's total demand within its supply capacity. Charging is managed through the SolaX Cloud App over WiFi, Ethernet or optional 4G, with RFID authentication for controlled access.

Three-Phase Supply Required for Full Power
The X3-HAC-22K requires a three-phase electrical supply to deliver its full 22kW output. On a single-phase-only property, confirm three-phase capacity is available before specifying this model, or consider the single-phase X1-HAC-7 (7.2kW) instead.
Qualified Electrician Required
Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671:2018 wiring regulations and the manufacturer's installation manual. The charger includes built-in PEN fault protection technology compliant with BS 7671:2018 requirements, but the electrical supply and earthing arrangement must still be assessed on site.
Solar & Battery Integration
The charger integrates with new or existing PV systems and is capable of 100% green energy charging when paired with sufficient solar or wind generation, and supports smart dynamic load balance control to optimise use of home-generated power alongside grid supply.
Automatic Phase Switching
Automatically switches between one and three-phase charging depending on the connected vehicle, maximising compatibility from a single charge point.
Smart Dynamic Load Balancing
Built-in dynamic load balance control monitors household demand in real time to prevent overloading the property's electrical supply.
100% Green Energy Capable
Designed to integrate with new or existing PV systems, allowing the charger to prioritise self-generated solar or wind power where available.
RFID & App-Based Access Control
Secure access via RFID (ISO-14443-A) authentication, plug & charge, or the SolaX Cloud App, suited to shared driveways, workplaces and destination charging.
Robust IP65 / IK10 Construction
Rated IP65 (plug type) and IK10 for the housing, with a wide -30°C to +50°C operating range, suitable for exposed outdoor installation.
Multi-Protocol Connectivity
Supports WiFi, Ethernet, optional 4G and dual RS485, with OCPP 1.6J, Modbus TCP/RTU and Cloud API for back-office and third-party integration.

Do I need three-phase power to install this charger?
You need a three-phase electrical supply to use the full 22kW output. The charger will still operate on a single-phase supply at reduced power via its automatic phase switching feature, but for most three-phase capacity planning, confirm supply availability with your installer first.
What cable comes with this charger?
The X3-HAC-22K is supplied with a 6.5m tethered Type 2 (IEC 62196) charging cable, so no separate cable purchase is required.
Does it work without solar panels?
Yes. While the charger is designed to integrate with new or existing PV systems for green energy charging, it functions as a fully capable standalone AC charger on any compatible three-phase supply.
Is this charger suitable for outdoor installation?
Yes, it carries an IP65 rating (plug type) and IK10 impact rating for the housing, with an operating range of -30°C to +50°C, making it suitable for exposed outdoor locations.
What protection does it include against PEN faults?
The charger has built-in PEN fault technology designed to meet BS 7671:2018 requirements, alongside integrated current leakage protection (30 mA AC & 6 mA DC) and a range of other electrical protections.
Can multiple chargers be managed together on one site?
The charger supports OCPP 1.6j, Modbus TCP/RTU and Cloud API connectivity, allowing integration with third-party charge point management systems for multi-charger sites such as workplaces or destination car parks.
