SolarEdge Split-Core Current Transformers (CTs) are the required accessory for the SolarEdge Energy Meter with Modbus Connection (SE-WND-3Y400-MB-K2). They provide a simple, non-intrusive way to measure current flow on each phase without disconnecting existing cables — the split-core design clamps around the live conductor. Available in 100 A, 250 A, and 1000 A ratings to cover residential and commercial supply sizes. Each CT outputs 333 mVac at rated current, achieving ±1% accuracy across the full 1%–100% of rated current range. One CT is required per phase — one for single-phase, three for three-phase installations.

⚠ Installer Note — CTs must only be installed and wired by a qualified electrician. Never open CT leads while energised. Connect CT wiring to the meter before applying power. The CT circuit must not be left open-circuited — always connect to the meter terminal or short the leads before removing from the meter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which CT rating do I need?
Choose a CT rated at or above the maximum rated current of your main supply fuse or incomer MCB/MCCB. For most UK residential properties with a 60–100 A main fuse, the 100 A CT (SE-CT-SPL-100A-A) is correct. For commercial premises with 101–250 A incomers use the 250 A; for large commercial or industrial sites with busbars over 250 A, use the 1000 A. Never fit a CT with a lower rating than the maximum possible current — it will saturate and give inaccurate readings.
Will the CT fit around my existing cable without disconnecting it?
Yes — the split-core (clamp) design opens and closes around the live conductor without breaking the circuit. Check the internal aperture of your chosen CT against the outer diameter of the cable or busbar it needs to clamp around: 16×16 mm (100A), 24×25 mm (250A), or 52×52 mm (1000A). If the cable OD is borderline, use the next size up. The CT must be clamped on a single-core conductor only — never clamp around a multicore cable or the readings will cancel out.
Is the 100A CT backward-compatible with older 50A and 70A models?
Yes — SolarEdge updated the CT range and the 100A SECT-SPL-100A-A is a direct 1:1 replacement for the discontinued 50A (SE-ACT-0750-50) and 70A (SE-CTML-0350-070) CTs. The meter firmware automatically detects the CT rating, so no reconfiguration is required when replacing older models on existing installations.
