The SolarEdge 430W Smart Module (SPV430-R54PDTL) is a N-type TOPCon, half-cut, bifacial dual-glass solar panel supplied with a factory-fitted S440 power optimiser. Instead of bolting a separate optimiser to the frame on the roof, the optimiser arrives pre-assembled, so every panel gets its own module-level MPPT, module-level monitoring and SafeDC voltage shutdown straight out of the box.

Rated at 430 W (STC) with 22.02% module efficiency, the panel uses 108 half-cut cells (6 x 18) behind 1.6 mm tempered glass front and rear. The bifacial design lets the rear side contribute extra power, with SolarEdge quoting up to 516 W at a 25% rear-side gain. Shading on one panel, or panels facing different directions, no longer drags the whole string down, which makes it a strong fit for complex, shaded or multi-orientation UK roofs.

Built for the long term, it carries a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year linear performance warranty, with a rated 5400 Pa front snow load, a 35 mm hail test and ammonia, salt mist and PID testing. It is designed to work with a SolarEdge inverter and integrates with the SolarEdge Home ecosystem.

Smart Module: panel and optimiser in one
The S440 optimiser is already fitted, so no separate optimiser is needed for this panel. It is intended for use with a SolarEdge inverter. System design limits per string are listed further down this page.
Compatibility
In new installations S-series and P-series power optimisers must not be mixed in the same string. Sense Connect arc-fault functionality is subject to inverter model and firmware version, so confirm your chosen inverter supports it.
Safety and regulation
Installation must be carried out by a competent person in line with BS 7671 and the manufacturer's instructions. The 1 V per optimiser safety output applies only when the inverter is off or the optimiser is disconnected from it; treat the string as live whenever the system is running.

N-type TOPCon half-cut cells

Bifacial dual glass
1.6 mm dual-layer tempered glass on both faces captures light from the rear as well, with 80 +/- 5% power bifaciality and up to 447 W, 482 W or 516 W at 5%, 15% and 25% rear gain.
SafeDC and Sense Connect
SafeDC brings each optimiser down to a 1 V safety output when the inverter or AC power is switched off, protecting installers and firefighters. Sense Connect is designed to detect and prevent potential electric arcs at connector level.
Monitoring and Home ecosystem
Module-level monitoring gives full visibility of system performance from roof to grid, and the panel integrates with the complete SolarEdge Home ecosystem through the SolarEdge Home Network.
Tough in extreme weather
Rated for 5400 Pa snow load on the front and 2400 Pa wind load on the rear, with a 35 mm hail test, IP68 junction box and an operating range of -40 to +85 C.

Design note
On the single phase Home Wave inverter, the 6800 W maximum connected power is permitted for inverters with rated AC power of 8000 W or more connected to at least two strings. In multiple string designs, the maximum is permitted only when the difference in connected power between strings is 2000 W or less.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to buy a separate power optimiser?
No. The S440 power optimiser is pre-assembled on the panel, so you only need to connect the panels in a string to a compatible SolarEdge inverter.
Which inverters does this panel work with?
It is designed for use with SolarEdge inverters. The manufacturer lists string limits for the SolarEdge Home Wave single phase, Home Short String three phase and three phase inverters (see the string design table above). Do not mix S-series and P-series optimisers in the same string in new installations.
What does bifacial mean for real-world output?
The 430 W rating is measured on the front side only. The rear glass can add power from reflected and diffused light, and SolarEdge quotes 447 W, 482 W and 516 W at 5%, 15% and 25% rear gain. Actual gain depends on how the panels are mounted and how much light reaches the rear, so raised or ground-mounted arrays over reflective surfaces typically benefit more than flush roof installations.
How does SafeDC protect installers and firefighters?
SafeDC provides module-level voltage shutdown whenever the inverter or AC power is turned off. Each optimiser drops to a safety output of 1 +/- 0.1 V, which greatly reduces the DC voltage present on the roof.
What is Sense Connect?
Sense Connect is SolarEdge's patented safety feature designed to automatically detect and prevent potential electric arcs at connector level that could cause fire events. Functionality is subject to inverter model and firmware version.
What warranty and packaging does the panel have?
The module and the integrated optimiser each carry a 25-year warranty, backed by a 30-year linear performance warranty guaranteeing 99% output in year 1 and 89.4% over 30 years. Panels are packed 36 per pallet and each weighs 21.74 kg including the optimiser.
