The Sigenergy SigenStack BC M2-0.5C-BST is the battery controller that sits at the top of the Main stack in a SigenStack commercial and industrial (C&I) battery system. It manages the DC power and communications between the BAT 12.0 battery modules and a Sigen C&I Hybrid Inverter, and the BST variant adds an integrated DC-DC boost converter module.
It is rated for a nominal 157 A battery charge/discharge current at 0.5C, 180 A maximum output and input current and an operating range of 550 to 1,100 V DC, with CAN communication to the inverter. The whole SigenStack system is IP66 rated for indoor or outdoor siting, with smart air cooling and an aerosol, smoke-sensor and exhaust fire suppression system.

How many stacks and modules are allowed?
1 to 7 BAT 12.0 modules on the Main stack and 1 to 7 on every Sub stack, with 4 to 21 modules connected to each inverter. A full 21-module, 253 kWh system is therefore three stacks of seven: one Main stack carrying this controller plus two Sub stacks. One controller is used per system, on the Main stack only.
When the BST version is the right controller
Sigenergy specifies the BC-BST where the rated AC line voltage is above 400 V, in any PV (solar) plus storage system, with a Sigen PV HYB series inverter in pure storage, and with a Sigen PV HYA series inverter in pure storage when the system has 19 modules or fewer. The standard BC M2-0.5C is reserved for pure storage on a HYA inverter with 20 or 21 modules. If in doubt, specify the BST.
Safety: heavy, high-voltage DC equipment
Operating voltage reaches 1,100 V DC and each BAT 12.0 module weighs 105 kg. Installation and commissioning must be carried out by a competent, qualified electrician to BS 7671, the Sigenergy installation guide and local fire-protection requirements, with G98/G99 notification to the network operator as applicable. A lifting tool is required from the fourth battery module upwards.

157 A nominal battery charge/discharge current with 180 A maximum output and maximum input current between the controller and inverter.
Wide 550 to 1,100 V window
An operating voltage range of 550 to 1,100 V DC covers the voltages produced by 4 to 21 stacked battery modules.
CAN communication
CAN communication to the Sigen C&I Hybrid Inverter series, with an 8-core shielded twisted pair signal cable (EIA/TIA 568B) up to 50 m.
Pack-level safety
SigenStack provides pack-level safety protection and precise thermal runaway control, with aerosol fire suppression, a smoke sensor and an exhaust system, and active balancing at pack level.
IP66, floor standing
The system is IP66 rated with smart air cooling, an operating range of -20 to 55 °C and 0 to 100 % relative humidity, installed floor standing on a non-combustible base.

Frequently asked questions
How many battery modules can I fit on a stack?
The installation guide allows 1 to 7 BAT 12.0 modules per stack, on both the Main stack and each Sub stack. A complete system needs 4 to 21 modules per inverter, which is a maximum of 253 kWh.
When must I use the BST controller instead of the standard BC?
Use the BST for PV plus storage systems, where the AC line voltage is above 400 V, with a HYB inverter in pure storage, and with a HYA inverter in pure storage up to 19 modules. The standard BC M2-0.5C is for pure storage on a HYA inverter with 20 or more modules.
Can I mix different battery module versions in one system?
Sigenergy advises that all BAT 12.0 modules in the same system share the same part number. Check that the first eight digits of the part number on the module match before stacking.
What cables do I need to supply?
You supply the PE cable (at least 25 mm²), the DC power cable between the inverter and controller (70 to 120 mm², 1,500 V DC rated) and an 8-core shielded signal cable. Single cable runs are limited to 50 m.
Where can the system be installed?
The SigenStack system is IP66 rated for indoor or outdoor use. It needs a level, solid, non-combustible base such as concrete, positioned at least 200 mm above ground level, with at least 1,500 mm clearance in front for lifting equipment, and at least 500 m from salt or acid corrosion sources.
Does this controller include the base or battery modules?
No. The listing is the controller only. You also need Base MAIN-0.5C, BAT 12.0 modules and a Sigen C&I Hybrid Inverter, plus Base SUB-0.5C and a Cover for any Sub stack.
