The Sentinel X200 Boiler Silencer (MPN X200) is a non-acid, leave-in treatment for the elimination of boiler noise, commonly known as "kettling", caused by limescale deposits on the heat exchanger surface. Suitable for use in all types of indirect central heating systems, X200 is gentler than acid-based descalers while remaining highly effective at reducing noise and restoring boiler efficiency, helping to quickly pay for itself through reduced fuel usage.

Up to 10 Radiators
Coverage
Dosage
1 litre of Sentinel X200 treats a typical domestic system of up to 10 radiators. Larger systems should be dosed with twice this amount, i.e. 1% of system volume.
Check for Mechanical Causes First
Many noise problems are caused by system design or mechanical faults rather than limescale. It is important to rule these out before applying a chemical solution. If noise is caused by sludge (iron oxide corrosion debris) rather than limescale, the system should instead be cleaned and flushed with a suitable Sentinel cleaning product.
Use Alongside Inhibitor
Sentinel X200 should be used together with Sentinel X100 Inhibitor (or Sentinel X500 Inhibited Antifreeze) to protect against corrosion and scale while the noise issue resolves.
Non-Acid Formula
A non-acid, non-corrosive treatment that avoids the risks associated with traditional acid-based descalers, making it safe to leave permanently in the system.
Targets the Root Cause
Works directly against the thin layer of limescale deposit on the heat exchanger that is the most common cause of boiler kettling noise.
Restores Boiler Efficiency
As well as reducing noise, treating the underlying limescale deposit helps restore boiler efficiency and reduce associated fuel wastage.
Leave-In, Long-Lasting Treatment
Designed as a leave-in treatment for long-lasting prevention of boiler noise recurrence, rather than a one-off flush.
Suitable for All System Metals
Suitable for use with all commonly encountered metals and alloys, including aluminium, so it can be safely used across mixed-metal heating systems.
Simple Dosing
Can be dosed via an F&E cistern, by-pass feeder, or Sentinel Dosing Vessel on open systems, or added directly before filling on sealed systems.

What causes the kettling noise X200 is designed to fix?
Boiler kettling is most often caused by a thin layer of limescale deposit on the heat exchanger surface. X200 is formulated specifically to treat this.
How much X200 do I need?
1 litre treats a typical domestic system of up to 10 radiators. Larger systems should be dosed with twice this amount.
How long does it take to stop the noise?
This depends on the hardness and quantity of limescale present. In severe cases, a further dose may be necessary.
Should X200 be used on its own?
No. It should be used together with Sentinel X100 Inhibitor or Sentinel X500 Inhibited Antifreeze to also protect against corrosion and scale.
What if the noise is caused by sludge rather than limescale?
If noise is due to iron oxide corrosion debris (sludge) rather than limescale, the system should instead be cleaned with a suitable Sentinel cleaning product before treatment.
Is X200 safe to leave permanently in the system?
Yes, it is a non-acid, leave-in treatment designed for long-lasting prevention rather than a temporary flush.
